Most likely yes.

Finally, I can't wait to get this update, Unified NNID's, Unified eShops and hopefully purchased games will be tied to your eShop account instead of the damn console, we have been asking for this for a long time why Nintendo has done nothing is beyond me, honestly I'm scared to crap of my 3DS and Wii U breaking as I will lose all my downloaded DLC and Games.

If this is true, that would be awesome. One of the screens said "Earthbound" what if you can download a virtual console game from the Wii U and play it on the 3ds or the other order? Maybe this is why the Wii U is officially getting Game Boy Advance games, so it can be compatible with the 3ds for cross console gaming.

If the eShop accounts get tied together...I'd like to be able to play VC games I own on my 3DS on the Wii U and vice versa. Especially SNES games...Earthbound on the 3DS just sounds so good. @_@

well it has taken them long enough.

i know this will get me a lot of flack, but Nintendo doing things like this so late make them look like amateurs.

Whilst I wouldn't quite put it that way for once I agree with you. Sony and Microsoft have been doing it for years and for Nintendo to take this long is just baffling and unacceptable.

One of the big reasons I am switching from Xbox to PS4 and have actually been using my PS3 more lately has been thanks to cross-buy with my PS Vita.

At the very least it makes sense to do it with Virtual Console games like Sony have with PSone/minis on PS3/Vita.
