A purebred yellow Labrador retriever, Oakley likes to run, swim and get into most everything -- "whether it's trouble or not," his owner 1st Lt. Brandon Harker affectionately says.

And as much as anything, Oakley enjoys cuddling wherever, with whomever. That's just what Harker wanted to do with him this month, when he got back from a 9-month deployment to Afghanistan.

Except Oakley was gone. The friend with whom Harker had left Oakley said he'd gotten rid of the dog.

"I'd just like to get him back, safe and sound," Harker said Friday night. "That's about it."

a plea to find Oakley on Craigslist, noting that he didn't know if the dog had been sold or given away -- something he'd been told happened in May, though Harker isn't so sure.

That online item describes Oakley as being "good with kids and other dogs," with darker yellow spots on his face and going down his sides and legs. He is registered to Harker and has a microchip identifying device, and is a few days shy of being 2 years, 4 months old.

Writes the soldier: "If anyone has any information on this and can help me, please do."

I would of went through hell with this guy if I found out he sold one of my dogs.  The friend knows who he sold the dog to, he needs to stop being a heartless monster and confess. This is simply a sad story and it hits home as an animal-lover.

Anyway what if the reason the friend isn't telling is because something worse happened to the dog. Regardless I hope he gets his dog back.

Yes, hate all of humanity because of the acts of one person. This logic is equal to hating all the victims of a murderer because the murderer is a horrible person.

 

That said, screw that guy,  you don't accept something you can't take care of.

Yes grow up, especially if you're going to pretend you don't know what I meant while quoting someone who said basically the same thing.

 

Hating random strangers for something like this when you don't have all the details isn't very mature either. Even if you did have all the details you'd still need to grow up.

I can really only think of two, neither which is good:

 

1. He assumed the soldier was dead.

2. He was unable to care for the dog, in which case he should've found another friend of the solder to care for it or make another arrangements.

It's not about the friend being mad. If he was scared for one of those reasons(probably wasn't) it would be because he doesn't want his friend devastated that he'll never get the dog back. If the friend sold it his friend can cling to hope that he can find it again. If the dog was stolen/died he'll have to deal with never being able to get it back. Anyway those reasons are probably all wrong but it doesn't matter either way.
