We should have a comprehensive game compendium to show we as a site know what the Wii U is all about, but of course, too much effort and not enough rum.

There is never enough rum for things.

Chat was too hard to moderate as Mourn has stated again, again, and again. Yeah, chat was awesome in the way you can get to know awesome people with common interests, but some people seem to think they can defy the rules and create drama. These kind of people ruined the chat, and that's the reason it's not here today. It's a clear and valid reason, I just don't understand why no one understands.

I want chat back just as much as the next guy, but I know that it was bad for the community and caused too many problems to stay.

I don't really think chat NEEDS much moderation. I feel like the people inside can be there in mods . Not as in they should decide the rules, who gets warning points/banned, but as in I thik that if there's a problem the person offended can just deal with it. I just think it's stupid to even really try to heavily mod chat, because that's like modding a live conversation between people If someone breaks the law or gets offends someone in real life, they can just go to the authorities and then the authorities get involved. Especially if the person offended can give the time and date, I would assume that would make finding it in the chat log a lot easier...

You have to remember, the staff allowed members to do this. They didn't moderate the chat AT ALL, until maybe the end. Essentially, it's the staff fault. They COULD of been much stricter and stop giving so many chances. Note- I'm not excluding myself, I was one of the perpetrators.

I think you're right to an extent.

Another big problem was the drama leaking onto the forums. You would have people taking the arguments/drama into threads. If Member A. got offended by something Member B. said, Member A. would post a status about it, and Member B. would come along and continue what should've been settled in chat.

The problem was that few people would often report events or when they happened.

Another issue is that the chat log function and search was very very clunky and hard to use (plus there were over thousands and thousands of pages, even more with the stuff going on in private chats).

I'm not opposed to a chat feature, but I am opposed to the IP Boards chat.  Unfortunately, I don't have the money nor do I have complete control over the site to add an ideal chat system.  The chat was linked with feldo's IPB account, along with other things, that I have no way to access.

Alternatives have been suggested before, like skype groups or offsite chats, but often the problems we had in chat here only exploded over there.  Even before the chat was gone, we had to make an announcement that we have no control or influence on other sites or chats because of issues with members.

Unfortunately people aren't mature enough.

I think a cute idea would be something like my shout.png
I lost the code for it, but it's pretty simple.
You could have a chat literally inside the banner logo, and could pretty easily link it to the ipb user database if you have server file access.
Sounds adorable to me.
Shame it'll never happen :<

What about if you`re given date and time?

Also, if people don't report and then take drama onto the forum, just hit however many people involved HARD with warning points.

As much as I would like to have chat back, I don't think it's a good idea. There are still too many babies on this forum who would ruin it.

That'd be fangirlism though.
Besides it's easy to see what you're not getting than what you are getting, and easier to talk about that too.

No, but seriously... Chat with dedicated mods just for being in there and looking after the place would be alright. If that's possible.

What is it with you and Zinix using feminine pronouns instead of the masculine all the time? All your posts refer to people as female even if you know they are male.

Is this some sort of "joke" that I don't get, or are you both the same person?

Zinix is just a copycat is all.

She thinks it's a joke she can join in on, she has no idea why I assume everyone is female.
