I tried about 15 times (making a new character each time :/)

got in once last night and actually past the race but then it made me do this stupid drug mission and as I was chasing this guy I ran outta bullets, he seemed smarter than ai on single player because everytime I was able to trash his car he'd just steal another one. I tried to quit the job but the game just crashed and I lost my 16th online character :/ gave up trying after that night.

You're definitely more persistent than me man. The online problems are terrible but I'm sure Rockstar are working to fix it ASAP. I managed to create a character and got it saved but I don't feel comfortable going on till people say its more stable.

It's awful, Rockstar should have been more prepared especially considering online came out 2 weeks after initial release.

 

I've managed to get in (after trying to get onto the first mandatory racing mission about 10 times) but it is still very buggy and has frozen the whole xbox a few times.

I can't even log into the race it just kicks me out at the character creator.

The online is horrible and I haven't even gotten into it yet because of its servers, I know there are problems with day 1 online but this is ridiculous, and Ive heard a lot of bad things about the character customization with its horrible choice of creating a character with your grandma and grandpa's apperance and it randomly gets deleted. Might aswell play Red Dead Online.

chill out guys. You can only prepare so much... Even Rockstar couldnt have prepared for all the kinks such a massive bombardment would have on the servers and network framework.

Give it some time, and try again.

Update just happened and it let me on but as soon as I got out it didn't let me back in. Gonna try later but what I played was fun.

The problem seems to be more found if you try and make another character, I have had no bother other than loosing a days play in that my save game went back a day so I lost a days worth of money and score, other thing is I steal another car to use as my own but the game reverts back to my first car.
My brother in law made another character and has had lots of problems! He spent two evenings trying to get past training...

What did you expect to happen when millions of people around the world flood their servers all at once, this is the highest anticipated game of 2013 you should expect these sorts of issues. Yes the issues are quite troublesome but it takes time for the servers to be able to maintain such a large amount of people. Rockstar are trying their hardest to get things working, patience my friends.

I Blame the media for people's anger. If sites wouldn't give it a 10/10 it probably wouldn't be getting flak. You don't by a Lamborghini and get a lemon.

I downloaded it like 5 mins after the online was available, I played for a good 3-4 hours, and haven't played since. It ran faultlessly when I did play though.

I've been playing and so far it's fun but not that much different from gta4. It's better with some story integration and the obvious gameplay improvement but I really want to see heists. Still I've had a blast with it and I'm a level 18 with a apt and stuff.
