Just got my son a wii u and the youtube app just constantly buffers. I found a thread via google that said don't bother with the app just use the browser, however every video we tried via the browser says this video cannot be played on this devise.

How are we supposed to watch youtube on this gadget? All other devices in the house work on youtube.

Go to the browser homepage, at the top right is settings, tap it.

Change 'wii u' to 'internet explorer'

You can either go to the youtube homepage and just watch videos from there, or any other video player that can use html5. I've been watching youtube videos all day on my  Wii U browser

Youtube are trying to get ads to work on the wii u.
They're having a really tough time trying to do it.
So it loks like they're just trying to Wii it up for everybody.

They made the browser completely lock up before the update, Nintendo made a fix so their rainbowty little script no longer did that and now they're blocking the user agent, thankfully Nintendo foresaw them trying to do that.

There's a simpler way (at least to me) than setting the user agent to Internet explorer. On the URL of the youtube video you want to watch, there should be the word watch and a question mark right beside it. Between watch and the question mark, type in _popup. This trick has yet to fail me except for the times when youtube videos froze my Wii U system.
