It creates an effect similar to wearing 3D glasses and playing/watching something that is displayed in "real" 3D.  It's more of a "depth" into the screen though - not things popping out like they can with the glasses technique.

Ahh okay, so it is not just the name.

Its because i was reading a paper where i saw the new 2DS advertised as ( New console from Nintendo, plays 3D games in 2D'' ''Have all the same features as the 3DS except the 3D effect''

So i thought there might have been a misunderstanding because i thought the 3DS were just a name. And playing 3D games in 2D sounded wrong in my head bue yeah  :P

There is actually a slider switch on the 3DS that allows you to vary the level of "3D" effect or turn it off all together. The 2DS forgoes this 3D option all together and just displays the games in 2D.

It does do 3d. Was cool at first but nothing really add to gameplay. I spend 99% if the time with 3d off.

One problem is you have to hold it jUst right or the picture gets all out of focus. .. very irritating.
