Back in the day, I never got into Wii Fit.  In anticipation of Wii Fit U and the free download coming on Nov 1 if you have a Wii Fit Balance Board, I picked up the Wii Fit game and Balance Board for $25 on Ebay.

Everything arrived and I set it up and it all worked perfectly.  I must say that Wii Fit caused quite a stir when it was first released and people went nuts over it.  Looking at that original software today, it is very hard to believe it had such an impact .. it is rudimentary at best and I am not talking about the graphics at all, I'm talking about its content.

I have not exercised in so long as I have been a smoker for over 25 years.  Having switched to electronic cigarettes about 7 months ago, I thought, well, I guess its time to start exercising.

So that lead to Wii Fit ...I am shocked that the game does not even attempt to let you know how many calories you might be burning and that there is no fitness routine ... a string of exercises in a row.

On the bright side, I do like it because it is motivating me finally begin to do something and something is better than nothing.

Not only am I out of shape with regard to cardio, but my flexibility is not what it used to be.

I decided I would ease into exercising and it looks like Wii Fit will help that and by doing yoga, I may improve my flexibility, which right now, is my biggest concern.

It looks like Wii Fit Plus may have addressed some of these issues but I hope that Wii Fit U goes even further ... has routines for specific goals in mind such as flexibility, cardio, strength etc ... and a combination of all of them.

Choosing a new activity every two minutes in annoying.

What I like about Wii Fit U is the fit meter .... I just ordered Fit in Six ... so I can wear that when I use that one then sync it with Wii Fit U.   I wonder if you can wear the fit meter while using Wii Fit U.

What are your experiences with any of the exercise games for the Wii?  Are you looking forward to Wii Fit U?  If so why?

Thing about wii fit is that its not a proper fitness plan wrapped up into a game. It doesn't really push you and from what I've seen the mini games don't make your heart rate go any higher than if you were just sitting on the couch. the yoga stuff is probably good but in terms of full on workout routines its lacking. im not sure what nintendo is planning to do with wii fit u but the fit meter is a good start. I think wii fit should just complement your already established fitness routine.

in terms of exercise related stuff with the wii I haven't played much, aside from wii sports and a little bit of just dance. Actually the main reason I got my wii is that I convinced my parents that I could lose weight but playing wii sports(I used to be really over weight when i was younger) unfortunately that didn't work. :P I did eventually lose it all but not  with the help of the wii......

As a beginer, I really wanted to ease into exercising, start out streching, light exercises then build up slowly .... my biggest problem with Wii Fit is having to take the time to choose each activity and start a new one up every 3 minutes .... this is very jarring to say the least.   I think in Plus you can make routines and save them .... anyone try plus?  I know Wii Fit U has everything from Wii Fit  & Plus in it and then gives you 19 more activities.

The fit meter is great because it records what you do outside the game .... other games and outside the house too ... so when and if I outgrow Wii Fit U ... I can still use it as a data collection point .... Fit in Six looks like it already has routines beyond me at this point .... and when sports club comes out I'll get that too ....

I think you don't need a game like that if you want to be fit. Don't rely on a game for your fitness routine.

Everyone is different and probably for those who already work out, these games may very well be below them but for someone who has not worked out, is middle age, and will never join a gym, I think its a great start ... And I want to hear from those who have tried some of the games ...Wii Fit Plus, EA, Your Shape, Your Fitness Coach .... What they thought of them.

I loved Wii Fit! I used to get up in the morning every day and do the yoga exercises, and I hate both getting up and exercising. I did it because it was fun to try to get better scores than my family. I am really looking forward to Wii Fit U as well because I have been feeling somewhat sedentary lately.

That's great, add me as a friend , RetroBlast ,and if you get sports club we can play together too ...

After spending 24 hours with the game, I love it, especially since my fit meter arrived today.  I never played Wii Fit Plus before so going from Wii Fit to Wii Fit U is a major leap in what the game has to offer.

My favorite aspects of Fit U

* Able to make 3 workout routines and save and edit them.  You can string exercises together and eliminate the tutorial from each one.  This provides a perfect, non interrupted workout.

*  The Fit Meter ...This device tracks your number of calories burned, # of steps, exercise intensity level (at rest, walking, running), changes in elevation (walking up steps burns more than walking down steps or on a flat serface), and it also provides you with time and temperature.  This device really rounds out the package ... you wear it all day and sync it when you like ....the best part is, you can wear it using other workout games then sync it up.

*  You can join or create a public or private gym and through Miiverse & communicate and see what others in the gym have been up to and who recently achieved one of their goals.

*  Lets you to take a headshot ....over time comparing these should show changes in weight

I'm just scratching the surface of this game now, there is so much of it I have not seen ... but I am lovin it.

The Wii Fit Miiverse Forums are up.  Because I am so new  to it, I have not gotten beyond the few yoga exercises I already tried in Wii Fit.  I can say that there are over 70 activities to do ...most of which I have not even looked at yet.  You will get your heart pumping if you want it to .... I know I was wipped after a 20 minute run!

I am pleased you can customize a routine. That was one of my reservations about taking this game seriously. I never played Wii Fit. I am hoping to get my in-laws balance board soon so I can take advantage of the promotion. I will also be downloading Wii Sports Club. Bowling and Tennis will be fun, but I really can't wait for Golf! Add me if you like, Jumpman86.

adding you now ... add me too RetroBlast

Interestingly enough, I have found no way to turn the Fit Meter off ... you should wear it all day but I thought you would turn it off at bedtime.

The fit meter does go into a display sleep mode after a few sec of not touching buttons ....it is still counting but the display turns off .... holding the center button a few secs brings the display back on.

It keeps a running total throughout the day, but you can sync it as often as you like, it continues to keep a daily running total and only syncs the calories and such that have not already been synced ...at midnight, all daily stats zero out ....I think the meter holds up to 30 days.

Considering you may not be able to turn it off, like a digital watch, the battery may last a very long time.

I think I'll use this game in the future for yoga only. The workout section is very limited and it doesn't allow you to train at your own pace. Even if you're new at working out, you have to stop using Wii Fit U for your sessions after some weeks of exercising, it just won't be working for you anymore after that time.

I think every other set of exercises with very few exceptions just isn't worth it! Maybe one or two balance games can help you once in a while, but playing Hula Hoop to lose weight just seems stupid to me. As the game suggests, you HAVE to develop good eating habits, otherwise you're just wasting your time to get fit.

The Wii Fit Meter is not THAT bad as I first thought it was but still there is a room for improvements.

Think about whether you really need that game. What you will be using it for? If you get used to some of the exercises, it's always a good idea to perform them outside the game making them more challenging and not waiting for the commands of your "trainer".

I have been using this program for 15 days in a row.  I do at least a one hour workout routine consisting of yoga, strength training, andaerobics.  My routine is saved with the explinatins taken out.

There are no balance games or dance games in my routine.

I begin with yoga, go to strength, then aerobic, then back to yoga.

The cycling and hoola hoop extra  is in my routine, this gets me breathing heavy and prepares me for the 20 min free run.

I have lost 5 pounds and have found the fit meter invaluable as it motivates me to do things like take stairs instead of elevators.

I am very happy with the program and there are still a lot of things I have not tried yet.

I love how you have the ability to customize you're own workout routines. Even if I don't have a chance to workout directly on wii fit u, I still keep track of my meter stats and body test
