I dont know what you expect them to do? Make some hardcore badass commercial to appeal to the "hardcore" "mature" gamers?

Well for starters, this will pretty much turn off every "mature" gamer that was interested in a wii u.

 

Secondly, they did ONE huge thing wrong. You never say upgrade when it comes to a console that's not a new model. You just never should. They're treating it like an add on once again.

 

Third, i'm pretty sure families don't act like that, that's pretty much over the top compared to what actual gaming families do. They treat a Mario platformer like it's wii sports at the end.

 

And lastly, yeah, that dad was incredibly corny.

The core gamer doesn't need to be patronized with television ads... they spend their time in places like this

 

They know what the Wii u is, they know what games the wii u has.... the core gamers will come when Nintendo releases games that the core gamers want (ssb4, mk8, zelda u, sm3dw, x, bayonetta)

 

A simple TV commercial isn't going to persuade the average educated core gamer into shelling out a couple hundred bucks, However the mom that does the Christmas shopping would be easily persuaded by this

I think the commercial is okay. Not the best and not the worst. Nintendo doesn't need to advertise to me or the core Nintendo fans through tv commercials we already know what's coming and what the good points about it are. Yeah "upgrade" wasn't the best term but to most people it just means "new thing to get or buy". The meaning of words change with time.

This is good for the little kids and the mom and dad that were skeptical about buying it. What about males 15 to 35 though? Where's the gore/dark/shooting w/e that cater to them?

the problem I find is that they spend so much time on people. Show me some badass games! Quit with the cutesy acting and explanation of wtf the Wii U is! Games sell consoles! I bought ps3 because of ff13!!!! (i know, i know, stupid me)

(shrugs) I really don't care about it. They've been playing this commercial (along with SM3DW, SLW, and MSSWO2014) on Cartoon Network frequently now. So eh, it's better than nothing.

Now this is what bothers me. See, Xbox One and PS4 have been advertising their consoles on Adult Swim. How is Nintendo going to advertise Bayonetta 2 without a TV advert? I don't think I saw one for TW101. Ironically, I have not seen commercials for the X1 and PS4 on Cartoon Network.

Pretty much agree, tho I didn't think this commercial was as bad as some of the others I've seen.  They should show Zelda, W101, Rayman- and yes, even Call of Duty, Splinter Cell and Deus Ex.

I actually saw a wii u commercial on one of the tv's in the gym this morning. Actually I think it was a cambells soup commercial, that was advertising the wii u, and a mario themed can of chicken noodle soup...
