Here's why I think Nintendo will not sell nintendo games on other platforms:

1. selling nintendo games on other platforms, basically nullifies the Wii U and 3DS.  Why buy nintendo consoles if you can play them on other consoles...including other consoles you probably own

2. it will lower the value of nintendo games.  Nintendo can charge $60 a game (crazy price), because you can only play it on a nintendo.  If they release nintendo games everywhere, the value drops as supply increases.  Why spend 60 bucks on a nintendo game if you have some other amazing choices, like halo, etc?  On the Wii U, you pretty much only have nintendo games as amazing choices...

3.  Nintendo isn't about to lose all the money drained into the Wii u and all the upcoming games for it.  Nintendo seems to have alot invested in the Wii U, from the console itself to the games.  Why throw all that money away

4. Nintendo games are fun because they usually involve a new type of controller.   Part of what makes nintendo games special are the new ways you play them...involving new controllers.  Other consoles are not as innovative, they use tried and true controllers (part of those old tried and true controllers were invented by Nintendo).  Nintendo invents new ways to play games...as such, they need to invent new hardware.  I just bought Mario World 3D last night and played it with my kids.  Its a great game, but I still have a better time playing Nintendo land (zelda mode, etc).  The way they use the gamepad in Nintendo Land is amazing.

What?
How does Halo get away with being $60 then?

There`s another reason for Mario and company, not going mobile: HDD in cellphones is pretty much inexistant.
Not to mention it would drain batteries in a heartbeat.

It's like the Mahmoo dilemma all over again. One second he seems perfectly normal, the next you're left seriously wandering if it's well-hidden trolling.

We use SD cards.
All games do that, doesn't stop anyone.

As soon as Nintendo starts releasing their games on other platforms is the day that Nintendo becomes just another SEGA, an irrelevant relic in an ever-changing industry.

Nintendo needs to keep what makes them special and work on ironing out their flaws. They need a CEO who knows what makes Nintendo special, but also knows how to keep Nintendo modern, contemporary, relevant and more importantly competitive.

As great as Mario, Zelda, Yoshi and Kirby are, Nintendo need fresh faces, new IP's. What makes Sony an attractive company for gamers is that they are committed to constantly making new first party games for their consoles.

Give it a few years and smartphones and tablets will have the same specifications as most standard laptops.

I'm glad you finally came to the realization Iwata should stay CEO :)

Someone who will modernise Nintendo and get them competing with Sony, Microsoft and any other competitor that enters the home console market.

But why? They won last generation in sales by NOT trying to compete with them.

And their losing money hand over fist this generation by not competing with them.

The fact remains that Iwata has said that Nintendo didn't keep up-to-date with foreign trends, Nintendo haven't really done their market research with the Wii U, they released the console with not one AAA game and virtually no marketing and then expected the console to shift 9 million units.

They seem isolated from the rest of the industry with numerous third party developers and publishers having virtually nothing to do with Nintendo.

Now none of this would be problematic if Nintendo were posting profits, but they aren't. According to an article I've read Nintendo will post a third successive fiscal loss in March, that's not a good set of results is it? Despite the success of the 3DS, Nintendo have even had to cut their sales forecast for that console too.

Whether you like or dislike Nintendo, the undeniable fact is that Nintendo are struggling at the moment.

You keep on forgetting that both Sony and Microsoft are losing money on their respective consoles, and are depending on their other products and services in order to maintain positive profit numbers.

You're literally demanding that Nintendo try to keep up in an unstable race that would kill it.

You're wrong this was the case with the 360 due to the RROD and the PS3 due to the decision to make the components "in-house", both the PS4 and Xbox One are turning over profits and that's before any games or services are bought with the console.A

Also Nintendo with their home console need to compete with Microsoft, Sony and any newcomer to the market or face another possible Wii U situation which really will hurt Nintendo.

I'd love to see your numbers. Last I checked both the XBone and the PS4 is selling at nearly the cost of the parts alone, and you still need to account for stuff like assembly and packaging.

If this link is anyway accurate then both companies are making a profit from each console sold.
