I just bought Super Mario 3D World yesterday.  It's good, but I can't believe I like Nintendo Land better.  With all the hype Mario 3D world is getting, I figured that would be my favorite game, but I don't think it is.  The way you use the gamepad in the zelda mode in nintendo land is pretty amazing, and this is coming from a guy who normally likes PC fps games.

Mario 3D world has more levels and stuff, but as far as the fun factor...walking around with that gamepad and shooting the arrows, while my little boys are fighting with swords is and was pretty darn amazing.

Was anyone else blown away by Nintendo Land?

Nintendo Land is the most underwhelming Wii U game of all time. OF ALL TIME!

I was blown away by Nintendo Land too, but it didn't have enough content for me (despite having more than your average minigame collection).

But this is the Internet; a magical place where people can say your opinion is wrong as long as it's not their's.

I like 3d world better myself, bjt comparing the two isn't exactly fair, them being two entirely differenf types of games.

Now, if we were to compare nintendo land to game and wario, that would make a little bit more sense.

Consoles I own:
Atari 2600, NES, Genesis, PS1, N64, Gamecube, PS2, Dreamcast, Wii, Xbox 360

Handhelds I own:

Since Nintendo Land is only 30 bucks at Walmart I might give it a try. I got 3D World at launch and I LOVE IT

NintendoLand has its virtues, but also its disappointments.  I didn't like how some games required more than one person.  Octopus Dance was pretty lame.  But as you mentioned, Zelda, Metroid and the ninja game make it worthwhile, as did the racing game, donkey kong crash or whatever and the Ninja game.

I'd give it an 8.5 out of ten.  It's worth picking up for $30 for sure.

Super Mario 3d World- it has been one of the best games I've ever played.  I'd give it a 9.8.  Only issue is that the depth perception can be off a little.

This thread really shouldn't be titled what it is. You can't really compare these games at all. One is a matured collection of fine tuned mini games to give a unique experience in local asymmetric gaming and the other is a pure 3d platforming Mario game. People will either like them or not but thread title should be corrected.

Nintendo Land is a great showpiece for what the Gamepad is capable of being used for and as far 3D World, I like it a lot, but it's not a true 3D Mario game, it's very linear and almost feels like it is coping the same formula of a 2D platformer, it's definitely no Super Mario 64, Mario Sunshine or Galaxy for that matter and while it's selling well it just doesn't have enough of a spark to draw in the gamers.

In fact I'm unsure whether Mario Kart 8 or Super Smash Bros will bring in the install base Nintendo needs to start churning out a profit, I think it all hinges on Zelda.

Comparing them is quite silly as they are completely different games. I get that you prefer one over the other though.

I was thinking about this earlier and it's funny you mentioned these two games because they are some of my favourite and most fun games to play local multiplayer with friends and family.

Nintendo = local multiplayer kings.

buy nintendo land used....I got mine at gamestop for 15 bucks....buy it from ebay....

I know mario 3d world and nintendo land are different...i'm just comparing them because those are the only 2 games I have for the nintendo wii u.  I'm comparing how much fun I have with my kids playing them.  for me, nintendo, zelda mode is amazing.....i know...it won't last as long...there are only 7 or 10 or so levels, but still....I'll be showing other family members this.  the replay on nintendo land seems really awesome.

I guess, I am looking for multiplayer games...that's why I got the wii u....so my kids and i could play together.

the thing with mario world 3d....it doesn't feel as "wonderous" as mario 64....where you could really take your time and explore.  And 3d is a little difficult sometimes with mario...some of the jumps and running at times can be a little too difficult.  It is fun though.  It just didnd't have the wow factor that nintendo land had.    It seems more like a last gen console game....

To be fair- perhaps that's part of the reason why I don't care for those games- maybe they'd be more fun if I revisit, tho I don't really have anybody to play with right now..... And, I think it's unfairly criticized. It's a good game- at times very good. In fact, I wouldn't mind a NintendoLand II or at least a DLC. That said, I don't think it's a "must have" or the killer app, but it's a worthy game.

I really enjoyed Nintendo Land, all the games were fun and it had a good atmosphere to it. But I just like 3D World better, not easy to compare two different genres. But I just enjoyed 3D World more overall.
