Just wondering and hope not. Would be quite the coup.

But selling Gears was big. The loss of their best and senior creative talent was huge.

Epic seems to be stalling.

Money looks good to them about now. And ms is getting desperate with its outlook vs ps4.

Would be awesome if Nintendo acquired Epic and not only made money licensing an engine, but was then in control of one of the best engines around.

Or... They could just by Crytek And make MS weep.

Might also motivate Nintendo to be on the razors edge of tech when the next console comes out. Especially since they will inherit experienced talent.

Doesn't jive with "blue ocean," but blue oceans turn red quickly. Nintendo needs to be ready when the pool gets very crowded and to not be afraid of the crowd. They just need to learn how to be the one who controls the crowd.

Interesting. In the last couple of weeks, game-changing ideas are floating around.

Food for thought.

epic have been a shell for years.

Perhaps concerning games, but not their engines.

Much potential in UE4.

Would be great to see them gain some actual vision.

Put out an Unreal game reboot and make it the modern day version of what the original was. Except.. Include decent storytelling and actual fun gameplay. Lol

But the original was a technical wonder and stayed that way for quite a while.

The game engine space is mature now so that won't be reproduced. But Unreal should be the pinnacle of why is possible. Would sell like hot cakes.

And don't sell a separate unreal tourney game. Simply make that the multiplayer part of the dingle player game. Can't go wrong.

Of course, these thoughts are simply hopes and dreams, but dangit, it should happen.

I can see MS BUYING OUT THE COMPANY. they make dx 11. With UE4 and up, they'd be pretty hard to compete with.

I just hope Nintendo sees the possibilities and acts on them.

Sony was hurting. Bad. They made some risky (and flat out gutsy) moves to try for a better future. And it all hinges on ps4. So far, it's paying off. They'd have much to lose if ms goes for some major plays. And ms seems au bit desperate these days after the post e3 dark cloud over them in he public social space.

Epic needs to have an in-company flagship game, it may be shell but still grafically and technically a step ahead of the rest. Even if not commercially succesfull, it shows their clients (studios) what the you can actually do with it. Also, by creating games they gain experience and stay in touch with what developers want or what problems they might walkin to. When they stop developing inhouse games, it's themoment they'll get behind.

What the world needs is more geniuses with humility, there are so few of us left

UE4 is dead.
It costs far too much, and does very little, especially in an environment where everyone else is making their own engines.
And independant studios have their own choices to make, none of which include unreal.

It's weird how two of Microsoft's main exclusive devs (Epic and Bungie) could almost forsee Xbox's future isn't focused on gaming and wanted out to make multiplats. Gears was overrated but the early Halo's deserved high scores.

Easily fixed by licensing deals.

Ie: who would choose Unity if you can have Unreal for the same "price"

Fox engine is not ready yo compete yet and cryengine looks a bit more "muddy" at this point.
