Just picked it up.  Haven't gotten to play the game itself yet, but i put a few hours into the demo, so I already know I like it.

My copy shipped this morning. After this may have to try the SaGa series since I keep hearing BD is a watered down version.

Not in the slightest, unless you consider the entire FF series a watered down version... Actually I suppose you could rather easily o that...

BD is a classic final fantasy, with the production values scaled back to a less powerful system and that wasted money glitter and guilded garbage put back into actually making a world to explore and things worth doing. I havent been given much indication in the slightest it aactually makes any attempt to do what saga does, and instead, is the classic FF open world with a linear path, with events activiated and the story progressed via going to the towns in that order and experiencing the events.

However, I am particularly upset with squeenix, for purposfully attempting to ruin what simply must have been too good of a game for modern squeenix to allow to exist.

The game has microtransactions. Squeenix would have you believe that they are just for players who arent very good, and want to see the endo of the game. I almost believed them, until I found out what the end game was. It is an unabashed, paywall.

"For some 25 hours, the pacing in Bravely Default is excellent. No scene is too long, and the plot chugs along smoothly, with just enough mystery to keep you invested. P

Then, when you get to Chapter 5, everything goes to hell. P

"Tedious" is too kind a word for what happens to your party over the next few chapters. In order to get the game's true ending, you'll have to repeat a series of four dungeons—and four boss battles—five times each. Mitigating this repetition are the user-friendly features—pro tip: switch to easy difficulty; turn off random encounters; set battle speed to max—but it's still an unpleasant experience. I got through the boss gauntlet in a few hours, mostly by doing something else while I played, and I have no plans to ever go near it again."

At this point in the game it is completely obvious square is attempting to annoy the piss out of you, just to get you to spend money on sp drinks, just so you can end these repetitive mind numbing repititious boss battles by simply paying for the drinks, not because you cant beat the boss, but just so the boss doesnt slow down your grind while you fight them for the 3rd, or 4th, or 5th run throught the same damn thing, and you can get past the monotony that much quicker. If turning the game to easy and turning off random encounters still takes multiple hours to do, you would probably literally shave an hour off that time with sp drinks stopping the boss from doing anything.

That's pathetic. You know Mistwalker,Level 5,Falcom and more but using those 3 as a prime example you can make JRPG's sell them in the west and make profit and not have to compromise. Square just does not get that.

Speaking of Final Fantasy I tried the LR demo. My god...WTF? I felt like I was playing a budget PS1 game. I mean the music was great and all. Battle system is different and neat at first but very tedious very quickly. Visually looked just ok. I thought this was a budget game nto the flagship game and yet again it was more corridors. I have zero faith in FFXV now.

Please tell me you're being totally unlike your normal self and you are trolling right now. Micro-transactions? Ugh. And I was just thinking that FF14:RR feels like a real final fantasy game. Frustrating to hear.
