I looked at the article you linked and it didn't say anything about a reboot. Sounds more like a spinoff such as Investigations.

Ans I watched the Japanese direct. It was called "123" and looked like the same gameplay as the others, so dunno.

123 is literally the first three games in the series. I saw part of the video for it, and it just looks some more of Capcom's notorious porting at work.
I'm cool with a spinoff as well, just as long as they referring to the professor Layton game.
