Awwww, no more Mario Kart Wii online... :P Oh well, Mario Kart 8 should be able to replace that.

(What am I saying? I rarely play MKWii online, anyway...)

RIP Metroid Prime Hunters/Mario Kart DS online multiplayer. You will be sorta missed.

Eh, the only good online game for the Wii was Monster Hunter, and the online for Monster Hunter ended a while back now.

I would buy the Wii U one, but I don't wanna start something that'll end with me losing 300 hours plus to a game.

Oh well, personally won't miss any of these if this shuts down in North America. Most of the games on here already have superior versions (MKwii - MK7, Smash Brawl - Smash Wii U, Pokemon BW/HG SS/DPP - Xy,etc). Shame to see that the services for Wii and DS are beginning to fade though. Wonder how long it will be before we see the Wii/DSi Shops shut down, which will be pretty interesting as it'll be the first major digital console storefront to go most likely. This will raise some questions towards digital ownership and such, not looking forward to that day to say the least.

EDIT: welp it's a worldwide shutdown it seems North America and Australia (so probably everywhere else as well) will be getting the boot.

Well I guess the Wii U VC DS games won't have wi-fi support then.

Darn.
I wanted to play MKDS.

They might. Four Swords has multiplayer support despite the multilink cable not being supported.

Can't say I'm impressed with this.  While I never played anything online on Wii, this comes across as a desperate attempt to force the people who did into buying Wii U.

It also mocks the Wii U backwards compatibility.  What good is 100% compatibility if they slowly shut down functionality?  Even Microsoft gave it 4 years before they shut down original Xbox Live, although granted those people WERE paying for it.

Still, Nintendo should be trying to come across as BETTER than the competition, not worse.

I haven't played online on those platforms literally for years. This will maybe tempt more users to pick up a Wii U/3DS.

The only good Wii online game I own is MKWii anyway, and MK7 is better than that and MK8 is around the corner. Metroid Prime Hunters was really good though, but haven't played it in years either.

No sig.

Never played online on the Wii, too confusing compared to Xbox live and such. Ahh well, bring on MK8 and Smash online!
