Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune has been busy with the ongoing development of Mighty no. 9,  but it looks like he’s also working on a new side-scrolling action game for Nintendo 3DS. The game is called Azure Striker Gunvolt, and is being developed by Mega Man and Mighty No. 9 developer Inti Creates.

After a brief introduction by Inafune in the trailer above, the first look at the game starts at the 0:35 mark of the video, with footage of the game’s hero Gunvolt taking on different villains like “The Wormhole Maker Melac,” “The Explosive Rage: Daytona” and more, using his lightning abilities to zap them.

In case you’re wondering about Inti Creates, aside from Mighty No. 9, they developed Mega Man 9, Mega Man 10, and are also involved with Shantae: Half-Genie Hero.

Azure Striker Gunvolt will be released this summer on the Nintendo eShop for 3DS in Japan. The game was announced at the ongoing Bitsummit conference.

I hope this game comes to the west here.

What makes me wonder, why should a game like this not be on both eshops. Even if the WiiU version is only HD enhanced, I think Nintendo should look into this, it wouldmean many more eShop games for both platforms.

What the world needs is more geniuses with humility, there are so few of us left

Totally agree.

THough Im guessing the reason lies with intel creates, and the time/money it would take to create the hd sprites and assets.
