If today wasn’t a big enough day already for Killer Instinct with the reveal of Fulgore’s release date, it has been officially confirmed that Iron Galaxy Studios has been tasked with taking the reigns from Double Helix. As you know, Amazon acquired Double Helix last month, which is why Microsoft would have to find a new development partner for this ever-growing project and Iron Galaxy is a superb choice for a successor, as it has a ton of experience working on successful fighting games.IG has aided Capcom with introducing a new generation of players to Street Fighter III: Third Strike, Darkstalkers 2&3, Marvel Super Heroes, and Marvel Vs Capcom by re-tooling them for modern consoles. More recently, it co-developed and published the comedic indie hit Divekick. But is Iron Galaxy prepared to handle its biggest challenge yet? You better believe it!IG CEO Dave Lang, informed Polygon that Microsoft and Double Helix have done an exceptional job of handling the transition, providing the new team ample time to familiarize themselves with the engine, while also lending a helping hand when needed. So, what does Iron Galaxy have in store for Killer Instinct’s second season of downloadable content? Lang wouldn’t say, but he sure is amped up about. Oh and don’t worry, the new developers aren’t planning to radically change the game’s core design."Before we were ever talking about this, I was a fan of the game. And to get to now take it over and start with this great base, and expand it and put new stuff on top of it, everyone in the company is super pumped up, and we can't wait to show people what we're going to be doing down the road."Given Iron Galaxy’s impressive fighting game pedigree, Microsoft couldn’t have found a better partner for the remainder of KI’s life cycle. Season Two is going to be a very interesting period indeed.» Source: http://www.polygon.c...e-date-xbox-one
