Hello everyone,

I've had the 3DS XL for about a year and really like that portable gaming machine.  I've never had a Wii and have never thought about getting a Wii so obviously I've never thought about getting a Wii U either.  My reasoning was that I already got a 3DS so why do I need a Wii U?  I know it's not a valid reason at all but that was my reason nevertheless.

I've been googling and researching about Wii U these past few weeks and I've noticed a lot of negative views about Wii U.  And I fully understand the current Wii U situation but I decided to give it a try.  I'm not really interested in Xbox one or PS4 because I already have a PS3 and it still works for me.  Besides I figured that 3DS wasn't doing that great the first year but look at it now so maybe Wii U might pick up the speed this year somehow.

So first, I went to Target and the salesperson obviously didn't know what she was talking about.  She said that Nintendo is going down and Wii U is going down, on top of that, she said that there were no more games coming out for Wii U AT ALL!(When the Mario Kart 8 sign was right over there by the Wii U display...).  I bit my tongue and left the store because I didn't feel like dealing with her.  Then I went to BestBuy and a Nintendo rep was just happened to be there that day so I went and talked to her, mainly for some freebies.  I also mentioned to her that I was kind of thinking about getting a Wii U but just not sure if I "needed" one.  Then she gave me the usual marketing speech about how much fun Wii U could be, etc., etc., and she said that right now if I buy the Wii U Deluxe at that BestBuy, I would get a $50 BestBuy gift card!  Well, that was the best marketing speech I've heard all day!  I figured that I just couldn't pass it up, so here I'm jumped on the Wii U ship.

Right now, I don't have any games but the two free games that came with the deluxe edition.  I'm going to get the Super Mario kart 8 for sure.

Welcome, welcome

Don't forget to get hyped up for sm4sh and Bayonetta 2 as well! :)

And a LOT of people around here are planning on getting MK8. In fact you're the third newcomer in a row I've told this. Maybe we should give it it's own section or something lol

Welcome to the Wii U! I was in the same boat, but I did own the Wii. I kept getting bombarded from all the internet stories of how the Wii U is a flop for Nintendo and 3rd party blah blah blah. I rode out the Black Friday and next gen launch hype of the PS4/Xbox One, listened to my co-workers talk about how great the new consoles were and that I should get one now. So I waited until my tax return came in and made my choice. If you look at the list of all the hyped up games very few are exclusives to the new consoles, in fact most of the big releases will also be available on PC. So I took those games into consideration along with the fact that I can still play Wii games on the U, and it was an easy choice. Not to mention the only games my wife will play are the SMB platformers and Mario Karts and since we share a TV and budget, she didn't feel the lower priced Wii U was as big of a "waste of money" since we already had a working Wii (since she is not a gamer the whole next generation game consoles don't really mean much to her). So since Feburary I have stocked up an quite a few games and half are the exclusives to the U, SMB U, DKC, SMB3D, and the games I am most looking forward to are going to be exclusives X, Zelda U, MK, Smash Bros, and eyeing Pik 3 for my next purchase.

Welcome!  I hope you enjoy the Wii U and this forum as much as I do!

So first, I went to Target and the salesperson obviously didn't know what she was talking about.  She said that Nintendo is going down and Wii U is going down

She should be fired.  Totally inappropriate for any sales associate to talk that way about any product being sold in their store.
