Metroid Series Director Yoshio Sakamoto is considering a change of career direction. Sakamoto's last game was Tomodachi Life, but he has previously worked on no less than nine Metroid titles.

When CVG asked Sakamoto if he would return to game series that are more traditionally associated with his name, he replied:

"I do not intend to do so. There might [currently] be various tasks I might be involved in with past series. However, even if so I would always like to introduce new entertainment and new fun to those series.

I would like to satisfy fans of those series, but also working with other talented individuals I would like to create entertainment that's completely different and that brings new emotions. I would like to challenge myself in those unique directions."

Is Sakamoto making a mistake by changing direction, or are you pleased to hear he's pursuing new concepts?

Oh boy, just imagine if Metroid: Other M was the historical last title.

It was a good game get over it. Thing was packed with Metroid Lore and enemies from the series. Only thing it lacked was decent VA.

Other M was very good. Yes it was.

Agreed for the most part. I had problems with Other M, but my list is pretty much the anti-thesis of what most people hate on that game for. It wasn't a bad game.

Gaijin Goomba recently made a video about Zero Suit Samus and I agree with him 110%.

I feel like all of Nintendo's OG or 90's designers are bored of proper games.

Don't mind it, there are better people to take over their works if they're willing to let go.

Uh, this is nothing new.

Sakamoto has always defined himself by doing new and different things.

Metroid is also a result of that (and kid ilarus was a contingency plan in case a a 2d shooter sidescroller with NO LEVELS was a complete disaster.

Yoshio sakamoto is also the mind behind baloon fight, Wario, yes, land, world, wario ware, X (1992)
, Galactic pinball, Metroid prime pinball, Picross ds, Rythm heaven, and the original tomidachi back in 2009, before other m.

This kind of stuff is par for the course from Sakamoto.

Doing 'new and different and unexpected' is something that comes out of sakamotos mouth every time hes interviewed, no matter how many years you go back. Like say 2003.

But hooray for idiot gamz girnoliz spreading misinformation via their incompetence and being SO DAMN STUPID they dont even realize he JUST REPEATED THE SAME KIND OF ANSWERS HE GAVE THEM THE LAST TIME CVG INTERVIEWED HIM IN 2003.
