Heather Schreck was asleep around midnight in her Hebron home when a voice startled her. "All of a sudden, I heard what sounded like a man's voice but I was asleep so I wasn't sure," Heather said.

Disoriented and confused, Heather picked up her cell phone to check the camera in her 10-month-old daughter Emma's room. The camera was moving, but she wasn't moving it.

"About the time I saw it moving, I also heard a voice again start screaming at my daughter. He was screaming, ‘Wake up baby. Wake up baby.' Then just screaming at her trying to wake her up."

That's when Heather's husband, Adam, ran into Emma's room. Adam said the camera then turned from his petrified daughter to point directly at him.

"Then it screamed at me," Adam said. "Some bad things, some obscenities. So I unplugged the camera.

Nothing's sacred nowadays, I just hope this doesn't happen often, and it won't happen to me once I start my own family.

At first I was really REALLY disturbed... But not so much once I found out the sillies were using a wi fi ip camera.

Its still disturbing, but not nearly as much as when it sounded like the guy somehow wirelessly got into a closed circuit system.

Folks, nothing wi fi or on the internet is secure, and especially auxillery devices and applications like this at this point in time, most of them are incredibly easy to get into, and have virtually no security (the poor japanese are having their cell phone programmable toilets hacked because they all left the factory with the default test security code of '000000'.... ALL of them). Do NOT use these things for stuff like this. Use a closed system.

I actually think this is kinda funny, obviously it's terrible for those involved, but funny nonetheless.

what?
So there was someone inside the house?
How does their camera move around?
Can you get robotic cameras now?

The camera sits on a small motorized swivel stand, has a speaker so you can talk through it. And can be controlled by a cell phone app, through a local wi fi network, OR through an internet service for long distance monitoring (checking if the baby sitter put the kid to bed while out to dinner).... And has virtually no security whatsoever.

I'm just shocked that people put cameras in their baby's rooms now.

With the number of crib deaths and even babynappings, I think it's a good thing. Especially during the times when baby has to start sleeping in its own room.

I'm just shocked because I have never met anyone that does this. Maybe it's more of an American thing, I dunno.

21st century thing? Like how in the 90's everyone started getting baby monitors. One was a mic to put in the babies room other was the speaker to be around the parents.  My parents didn't have the opportunity as the tech was not there then. Look how I turned out. :( ..if only they had a monitor to know what happened don that fateful day

Are you implying that your cousin came in and dropped you on your head or that an evil wizard came in and cursed you? Wait! Forgive me...you poor thing you were probably too young to remember. Don't worry kid I believe you. I'll find out what happened and I WILL avenge you somehow. That's what Gimbals are for.

Why doesn’t Mario have an absurd crotch buldge holding in his 10 inch slice of manhood? Why doesn’t Yoshi look like a Fist of the North Starcharacter.

Yeah, it can be a good thing, the benefits are quite plain to see.... However, not like this. Absolutely not like this. This is one of the worst, most harmful, most foolish things you could do, putting your house, and everything in it, into open access of anyone douchy enough to do this jazz... Just no.

These guys are looky this guy was just a douchy idiot. The amount of information he could have gotten off of them could have completely destroyed their lives. Bank accounts, routing numbers, pin numbers, when they would be away from the house.... Cosed systems, always, ALWAYS, use closed systems.

Was referring to the concept of a camera in the baby room. Not the lack of security.

Agreed that it's unwise to use an ip accessible video feed into your private life.

I think he was also referring to the concept of a camera in the baby room. The lack of security is just part of the subject in this case.
