I personally find this pointless. I mean, it made sense with the first two gens to have remakes because you can't transfer Pokemon from the GameBoy/Color games to the Advance and so forth. Here, you can transfer your Pokemon from the Advance games all the way to X & Y. But if people are happy, then more power to them.

X and Y had nothing to do with the game X and Y, yet that was used. You could argue that they look like an X and a Y, but lugia and ho-ho didn't really correspond with heart and soul.

Yeah that bolded part was stupid. Actually Ho-oh matches heart and soul Lugia doesn't match either though lol. GameFreak are horrible at names.

Dafuq dude, way to add to an convo. The matter of fact is that it's enjoyed and played by many and sells everytime, this is doing what fans have asked of Game Freak for a long time.

What I was meant to imply was they named there games simply because they looked like an x and y. No real meaning to it. The rest of the series are just colours of the legendarys (excluding Red and Blue. which were names of the protagonist and rival) so Alpha and Omega isn't really a big deal.

Yeah, I agree with your posit.

The design decision behind the legendaries of X and Y was absolutely to make them look like an X and a Y respectively. Also the coloring of the letters also matched the respective legendaries. What manner of meaning beyond that were you all expecting?

We know Alpha and Omega is beginning and end.

I am not familiar with the pokemon games in general, let alone this specific one that is being remade to tell if that has any relevance. Do we use pokemon to destroy the world? I may be interested in getting this title now...

Kinda, You have 2 teams,

Team Aqua wants to use Kyogre's power to flood the entire world

Team Magma wants to use Grodon's power to rid water and have the whole world as 1 giant land. 

So it would be the end of the world either way.

3 reasons for that

1. It could be in 3D, so it feels like a whole new world

2. It would be boring if they said "Explore and old world"

3. Maybe the story is slightly different. Mega evolutions didn't exist back in ruby/sapphire, so it could be like black2 white2 where everywhere is slightly different

Also the uniforms of Magma were Omega and Agua were Alpha, so yea that's also a small give away

Pokemon is so stupid. I'm pretty sure they weren't trying to do it to the WHOLE world though. They wanted to expand not engulf. That's why they freak out when they can't get the Pokemon they called to stop.

 

Also there was more signifigance to the X and Y titles according to interviews and the Deoxyribonucleic acid on the mega bracelet.

Ugh they went with his stupid names. Great. To be honest I dislike most of the Pokemon community and perhaps the biggest reason is that they have really bad ideas. By the by up above I was joking but right now I'm not joking.
