I know I heard this somewhere.

I think the Wii U will be compatable with DVDs. That would actually be nice for me because my DVD player sucks. But I think Nintendo likes to focus on whats important, the games. The PS3 has a Blu-Ray player, and I think of it more as a multi-media device. Nintendo's primary focus is games, so maybe it wont be added. But I did hear about a DVD player somewhere.

What do you think?

If it can have DVD's, go ahead and name it a main console.

It is already up there now.

Wernt we just confirmed that it had no DVD compatiblity? Instead I think that it had Netflix and not DVD or Blue ray. Also I wouldnt want it because then it would just cost more than it would without it.

I believe they've already confirmed that it won't have a DVD player...and the addition of that would be ridiculous, honestly. Most people already HAVE a DVD or Blu-Ray player in their house.

Well, They said it won't play DVD's, probably to make it cheaper. I bet it is capable of playing DVD's, though, if you hack it, kind of like the Wii. Who knows, you might even be able to make it play Blu-rays.

No. This is complete crap. Nintendo is a GAME company, they sell and make GAMES and GAME consoles. They don't have the experitese to put in a DVD player, and it's not a smart idea. Everyone has a DVD player nowdays, so why the hell do we need one in a console? The logical choice would be Blu-ray but that's been disporoven after the system launched. To think that topics like this still exist bug me to no end.

Games that refuse to use Gameplay effectively to do anything are like films that refuse to use cinematography in film to do anything.

I don't know if Ninty already confirmed, but I'm going to say a big fat "NO!" Wii U isn't a PS3. It isn't made by Sony. Sony actually made Blu-Ray (I may be wrong). So it would make sense to incorporate it. No contracts, no deal, just themselves. Now, Ninty is A GAME COMPANY!!! I don't think they made DVDs, so it would have to settle with contracts. OK, I think I'm wrong about the contract thing..... asuiegh;ogrfna

The point is: NO!

Sony was part of making the Blu-ray. There was several other companies involved too.

Eh, DVD players don't really matter anymore. They were a selling point 10 years ago when the technology was new and not many people had them, but the absence of one in the Wii U won't harm it like it did the Gamecube. What sells the Wii U will be nothing other than the games, the more time and money that Nintendo put towards that, the better.

All I have to say is I don't play on my counsels to watch DVDs or Blue-ray disks. I play em to play da games not watch DVD and besides it would just inflate the price! I think that it would be really expensive without it! So I really wouldnt mind it without one and I would actually like it more without it!

It won`t have one. Besides, I`d rather the Wii U have features of things that I don`t already have, like being a Wii U.

They could make two versions a dvd version and a normal one. It can be called Wii u and Wii u V. Wii u V can stand for wii u vision since you see blu-ray movies.
