If you were one of those people that had problems with the multiplayer then perhaps this will help you. I found out that these ports can/should be portforwarded when you play Nintendo games on your internet and it fixed the multiplayer connection issues i've been having with Mario Kart 8.
TCP: 80, 443, 6667, 12400, 28910, 29900, 29901, 29920 UDP: (Range) 1-65535
Hopefully it will help others that may have problems!

opening ports is silly, your router should handle this automatically, and less security-hole-ie
It should, this fix is for the case that it doesn't.

Weird, I never had connection issues with my Wii U. But good to know there's a solution for people who are experiencing it
Different routers and IP's just makes it so some people have trouble. I myself have had lots of trouble getting online with my Wii U. The weird part being that i can chat, check the web-browser, download games, but i can't play with people online cause theni disconnect...

Nah but i just have some rainbowty router that has bad connection with the Wii U. The ports i forwarded worked for a while but has now failed me. ON A QUEST FOR A NEW ROUTER!
