I haven't heard anything about a third season and heard the second season was complete trash.
Did Legend of Korra get cancelled?

It's still going, Nickelodeon has all of season 3 finished and ready to air, they are just being dumb and waiting till october to air them. In fact episodes 3,4, and 5 have been leaked in Spanish.
I am the hero this forum needs, but not the one it deserves.

Where'd you hear about this? All I knew was that the occasional screenshot was being posted in tumblr and I just chose not to be spoiled. It's still going, Nickelodeon has all of season 3 finished and ready to air, they are just being dumb and waiting till october to air them. My source is tumblr, I saw a bit of each episode before they were taken down. You can find a full info of each episode on tumblr too.

May I ask why? I agree with you on Season 2. Only the finale and Beginnings were anywhere close to as good as Season 1. But the first season...care to explain why you don't consider it near perfection?Honestly don't care. I've found Korra to be mediocre at best.

In words, it feels shoe horned. As far as the series in general, I don't find Korra to be a very good protagonist. As for season 1, the conflict seems quite forced. It's supposedly benders vs non but given the background of the original series we see no precedent for that.

I do have to agree. It was a pretty drastic change without much connection.

Yep. I mean, it would make sense if bending was purely hereditary but it's obviously not since Katara is a bender but Sokka isn't. Plus their kids were a combination of benders and nonbenders as well, so obviously the bending 'gene' is essentially random. That means that there's a good chance everyone has a bending/nonbending family member. They try to make this bender/nonbender thing as an allegory for racism/class warfare but it doesn't work since:
A) It's random
If this was a societal problem, it would have most likely already been a problem and resolved.
