Just came back from Best Buy Smash Fest, oh my the wii-u version of smash bros is so sweet to look at, and I'm in love with the pro controller just like i thought i would be! I let my competitive nature get the best of me, especially with the huge crowd behind me getting so hype and commentating the whole way, i picked Mario my 1st play and Dk the second, won both matches. Initial impressions for these two are they feel right at home with brawl yet much faster and combo capable. I think Sakurai nailed it when he said its between melee and brawl.

As for the smash fest itself, wonderful even, lots of street passing going on, casual convo, and of course smash bros hype once the game started. only issue, at least at this store in Ohio, the line was poorly controlled, and thus people attempted to skip ahead in line, but i guess that happens in ANY line. If you're going satuday 12- 5 GET THERE 2 HOURS EARLY! i showed up and 1 1/2 early and was already 20th in line and it quickly blew up. by 3:40 we already had 200 people in line.

But it's SO worth the experience!

Oh AND best of all they're giving away coupons for $30 off a 3ds, 2ds or Wii-u. So that plus the mario kart bundle with the free game!! sweet deal if you're waiting for a great deal!

I really cant say that i noticed any landing lag, perhaps because it was so chaotic. At one point with DK i picked up a barrel and was jumping all over battlefield pretty quickly even with that heavy item.  but i can certainly say the game is much faster overall. the typical lag/frame delay that i was expecting from some of DK and marios moves in brawl i felt weren't there

Went and played today, only got one game in though, the best buy i went to fell behind.

moves are definitively quicker in this game. played DK since i saw next to none of him and he was one of my mains in Project M. The game felt great and quick, and a mix between melee and brawl. As for DK, he felt closer to his brawl iteration than his Project M iteration. I have heard browser it much better to play this time around.

Only 1 and 1/2 hours, eh?  My brother and I stood in line for 4 and a 1/2 hours (a New Mexico location).  But yeah, anyone expecting to go on Friday, no matter the location, should get there at least 2 hours early.  Only more people will come on a weekend and word and hype will increase dramatically.

Of course, the extra 2 hours were the result of technical difficulties of the WiiU crashing and not starting back up, luckily the Nintendo representative had a 3DS belt and walked down the line giving every 4 people a shot at smash run.

I tried out Sonic on the 3DS and it played amazing (mainly because I got the controls quickly).

Megaman was really neat on the WiiU, but I hadn't used a pro controller before and didn't quite figure out how to use him.  For my second match I went with sonic and won 1st because GOTTASPEEDFAST.

I got around 50+ streetpasses during the event, counting the nintendo zone ones.

I certainly recommend it to people, but for a Saturday at best buy, no matter the location, you need to be there before the door opens at 930.

get your 3ds, some snacks, comfy shoes and just game.

and don't be afraid to mingle with the people in line with you, i found everyone to be pretty cool.
