Not sure if this had been touched on.

I have never played a Dynasty Warriors game, so I am happy I don't have that against me if it is just more of the same.

Are you guys expecting good things, or is this just well placed filler?

I am looking forward to it. But I am not sure if it a day one buy. I may wait to see what the consensus is before spending dollars.

Grab Warriors Orochi 3 on Wii U give you a good idea what to expect. Think of it like Japans CoD. They love it. Thing is series is not for everyone. They are pumped out frequently and are dumb games but can be fun. I like them to an extent. They are very repetitive but is a hack n slash and if you want has 2 player mode as well. They are not super high budget games either. You hack your way through hundreds of enemies til you get to the stage boss and mash away on him/her/them. Sometimes need to complete simple objectives like find the 3 orbs or whatever but it's so straightforward be pretty obvious. I do like them but some can easily hate these kinds of games.

If you like dumb fun and hack n slash then go for it. If on the fence still snag WO3 and bam you pretty much know how all these games play.

Cool. Thanks for the overview. I may not want to play a game in the series before this comes out. I might be tired of it before Hyrule Warriors comes out. 8)

I spent a ridiculous amount of time playing Dynasty Warriors 3 on the PS2. These games are mindless fun, I personally love them. They are  hack and slash games on a huge map, so if you're not into that you might not like them. The biggest complaint people have about them is that the combat is repetitive, which I admit it is. It is a complete button masher. Either you love that or you hate it. I don't know how much Hyrule will be different, but in previous games there were different characters all with their own unique weapons, stats and special finishing moves. As you play levels you can find new weapons to make your character better, unlock additional characters, ect. There tends to be a lot of unlockables which makes the games very addictive.

All Dynasty Warriors games tend to be very similar so just try one of the older ones. They're sort of like Call of Duty games in that way...if you've played one you've played them all.  Hyrule will probably be extremely similar but with updated graphics and Zelda skins. I'm not expecting anything new.

*irritated by constant misuse and subsequent loss of meaning of the term 'hack n slash'.*

Expect lots of over-the-top action and decimation of entire armies of enemies.
