I'm sure I've seen something like 1280p on youtube :/ I was just wondering if you could actually get something like that and use it for some AWESOME SAUCE gaming
Oh, and is it a possibility with the Wii U?

I just went from a 1986 (Standard Definition) TV to a brand new 720p TV. I don't want them to make higher quality TV's (if it's possible to even beat 1280p or 1080p or whatever).

There are other resolution that are higher than 1080p, some laptop screens are like that.

Don't expect more than 1080p more most things you deal with. Higher resolutions are used more for modified gaming, modified computers (some computers have higher resolutions), and film productions. Most people don't even understand resolution or aspect ratios.

TV's of a higher resolution do exist, but don't expect them to become mainstream anytime soon.

theres higher quality than 1080p but beyond that it becomes pointless as theres only as certin level your eyes can even recognize before it all just looks the same

Well let's use the resolutions available on YouTube, since those are the only resolutions I really care about.
The resolutions (that I know of) are: 240p, 360p, 480p, 720p, and 1080p.
1080-720=360
720-480=240
1080+480+Squish Logic=The next resolution will be 1560p

And there you go, problem solved.

Yeah, but wouldn't it be cool if they did it so high res that it looked no different from real life?

Beyond 1080p, you've got 2K and then 4K. Many modern movies are shot with 4K cameras, and there are some Youtube videos in that resolution.

This graphic might help:

Yes, Original is like 1440p.

"Original" is just that - the original resolution the video was uploaded in. If you upload something higher-res than 1080p (like say, 4K), "original" will show the video in that resolution.

Why the average person would even want to buy a TV higher than 1080p is beyond me. I can't even tell the difference between 720 and 1080.

And I personally don't own an HD TV. I'm already really behind as is. -_-

I dont care if there is a higher quality TV! I just bought my 1080p! I dont want to just find out that it is outdated already! And besides I think that the 3D TV will be the new thing before we come out with a higher def screen.
