Wii U update version 5.1.0 out now

wii_u_deluxe_set Nintendo has released a new update for Wii U that brings the firmware up to version 5.1.0. With the update, users can now transfer all software and data from one Wii U console to another. This can be accessed within the System Settings and by choosing “System Transfer”. Today’s update also brings new controller options to the Wii U eShop – Wii Remote, Wii U Pro Controller, and Classic Controller – and makes further improvements to system stability. You can find the full update notes below. Version 5.1.0 U, available via an Internet connection, includes the following improvements: New Features: Wii U to Wii U System Transfer Users can now transfer (move) all software and data from one Wii U to another A “System Transfer” option has been added within System Settings Click here for additional information on this feature Changes to Nintendo eShop: Users can now navigate the Nintendo eShop using a Wii Remote, Wii U Pro Controller, or Classic Controller Improvements to system stability and usability: Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience Thanks to Kid X for the tip. now just change the look of the OS and I will be totally pleased.

they're tied to the eShop console account.

tied to the console. Sell the console or the console breals you lose your games. Where as other services games are tied to your account not the hardware.

The downloads are tied to the NNID and the NNID is tied to the console. If something happens e.g your console breaks, you send it to your country's Nintendo and they have the way to transfer the NNID to another console ;)

Still should not be handicapped as it is. Steam on my new PC in 2012 still was able to download games I bought in 2008. Stop making people jump through not good hoops Nintendo.

Your NNID is your ID. You can see all the games you've purchased on both 3DS and Wii u from one console. Surely there's some override switch where you can link a new console to your NNID and shut down the old console if it ever connects again?
