ok so my Gamepad is giving me a error message whenever I step more than a feet away from my console. It says it is out of range and cant connect with the console. I have tried everything I know. I called Nintendo and did troubleshooting with them. They want me to send it in to be fixed.... The only problem is this will cost me 180.00 plus tax. I dont want to have to shell out that kind of money if there is another fix. Have anyone come nto this problem and have fixed it without sending it in?

thanks in advance

Also make sure there isn't anything you recently placed nearby that could cause interference

For $180 dollars it's not worth fixing, you can buy a new one cheaper than that. New gamepads are going for $155 on ebay currently.

Do other controllers work fine? It's not something with the console is it? Have you tried this with the gamepad plugged into the charger? Maybe it's a battery issue. Try resyncing the gamepad if you haven't already. Also if you have a buddy with a Wii U have him/her bring their gamepad over so you can be sure it's not the console. Is there any physical damage? Is the the sensor on the gamepad or the console covered up or blocked?

Good luck.

Well I tried everything I could. I'm going to just keep holding out on finding a cheap WiiU gamepad or console on craigslist or ebay. Sure as hell not giving Nintendo 180 bucks to fix something that might take them 10 minutes. I guess those that have been saying a WiiU bundled without a gamepad have a more valid point now.

That sucks, sorry. Do you have a warranty? This should be covered if you do.

Wtf? That blows.

This guy right here is probably your problem, one or both of those of those connectors may have come off a little, making for a spotty connection, and reduced range.

You may be able to fix it rather easily by hand, by opening up the gamepad and making sure the connections on that antenna are firm and secure.

Its really easy to access, in fact, once you get the screws out and simply lift the back off, you can see and access it.

Its right next the R shoulder button.
