http://nintendonews....ks-terminating/

Club Nintendo Japan member ranks are going away, Nintendo has today announced via email sent to its existing Club Nintendo members. Current ranks include Platinum Status and Gold Status, and the termination is coming sooner than later.

According to the updated (as of September 25, 2014) Club Nintendo Japan Membership Agreement, both classifications of member ranks (Platinum and Gold) will be terminated on September 30, 2014. The agreement further notes that all hardware released after October 1 will be ineligible for Club Nintendo Points once registered; this includes the New Nintendo 3DS and New Nintendo 3DS LL systems (which launch on October 11) and Nintendo’s upcoming interactive near-field communication (NFC) amiibo peripherals.

Qualifying retail and Nintendo eShop software will be the only eligible products to receive Club Nintendo Points. However, members will still be able to exchange Points for items offered in Club Nintendo’s catalog of redeemable goods.

While Club Nintendo Japan member ranks are ending, Nintendo of America and Nintendo of Europe/UK have not yet announced the same news.

I'm assuming it wont be long til it hits here in NoA. :(

EDIT: Can a moderator mode this thread to General gaming?

I'm crossing my fingers that this doesn't happen in NA. The current reward section is an absolute joke par some of the digital games and register bonuses (Hyrule Warriors DLC, Smash CDs). Even if people don't like the new direction the Platinum rewards will probably go in the future with just digital games, it's better than nothing.

Well Nintendo Europe doesn't have these member ranks so there's nothing to worry about here :o

The loss of points from hardware would be sad though, those had juicy stars.

I'd take unique 3ds themes for my coins.

This is BS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And they just started being more eco-friendly with it by having the codes printed on the inside of the cover page thing! Such a shame...

If Nintendo feels they put more in than they get out or just feel it doesn't work anymore they don't need to cancel it. They could do a premium subscription service similar to PS+ but different. Include DDP program but instead of $5 you get a 10-20% discount. Like always each game you buy is worth a different amount of coins. Nintendo has a prize for Premium members who have enough points. Can be a game to download or a CD or a plush, anything. Little things and be randomly chosen by Nintendo each month. 1st of every month your coins start over.

This is good but they need to work on their servers first.
