this baffling me. most 5.1 gaming headsets use the 3.5mm headphone jack or the rca connectors. they both are analog stereo. i was wondering how the headphones get digital 5.1 using analog stereo outputs. could someone help clarify this for me for both virtual and true 5.1 headphones?

Most of them actually use USB. It seems that most analoge have four or five headphone jacks. I'd just get the USB one, unless you have a soundcard that has all the ports. I wouldn't trust a headset that only has one or two jacks.

i think they use the 3.5 or rca to connect into the tv for console gaming, dont they?
