Empty and bland areas coupled with a weird art style throws this out the window. It's not the CryEngine itself, or the Wii U for that matter. It simply appears to be corners were cut for time restraints and some developer inexperience perhaps with the engine and/or wii u itself.

I'm glad you understand that just because a game uses a certain engine, doesn't mean it's good. About the only thing that raises with a different engine that is good, is your "Maximum Capabilities", not the quality of the game itself.

For some reason, sonic has a soft spot in my heart. I will get the 3ds version at some point. Pacman does too. I just ordered the 3ds version on Amazon. Got it 25% off

Pacman and ghostly adventures 1 and 2 are ok platformers. Handheld versions are superior imo.

I am too. I stuck up for this game so hard, I was about to make Ryud... the naysayers... listen to Justin Bieber music. Turns out they were right. I might still get this game, but only on Wii U.

I wonder which game has more issues, Unity or Sonic Boom. Also, I think Watch Dogs on Wii U probably had more dev attention than this game. If they are going to release DLC, even if FREE... they better at least try and correct some of the issues in game and send out a patch.

I've been watching gameplay vids of Sonic Boom from cobanermani456 and he said the game reminds him of Epic Mickey. Having started playing the game myself, that is the same feeling I got.

 

If you have every played Epic Mickey, the pacing of the game seems just about the same and the graphics/aesthetics give off the same vibe.

By no means is this game horrible, just really different and not something that I think fits Sonic too well. If it was better balanced with less focus on exploring and basic puzzle platforming it might be more exciting. The game just lacks excitement so far.
