I didn't have much in expectations. It was just a terrible film. Everything from the nuke fridge to terrible acting by Shia as always to cgi monkeys. To cgi aliens. Script was bad. Effects were bad. Lucas and Spielberg clearly lost the magic touch they had in the 80's. Film just felt like it was made to cash in on the name but nothing more.

I think the big issue was that Lucas is a GREAT creative guy, but he needs a LOT of regulation and limits. His highs are fantastic(Heck, I even enjoy the Prequels because as messed up as they are, the point that they're trying to make is that the Jedi Order WAS incompetent and idiotic when it came to the prophecy and that was their downfall) but he needs someone to say NO on various different things.

Games that refuse to use Gameplay effectively to do anything are like films that refuse to use cinematography in film to do anything.

I enjoy the prequels too, episode I the least but II and III are pretty good (especially III). I think they get more hate than they deserve. The Gungans weren't any more stupid than the Ewoks, sure Jar Jar could be annoying but it didn't ruin the film for me. Just like Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, I don't feel (from memory) that it was as different to the original trilogy that people make it out to be. There's supernatural aspects in the original Indiana Jones movies so I didn't feel like the aliens were really that out of place, sure it's not the same kind of supernatural that the original trilogy had but it just didn't feel that different to me.

Well for one the whole thing was in front of a green screen and you have no idea how much that takes away form a performance. Having to imagine what's there is kinda hard. Hayden is a terrible actor. His dialogue was awful. The love story was awful > The reason she dies is stupid. Vaders nooo is pathetic. Giving Vader a back story takes away from his aura in the originals. The actor who played Young anikin in Ep 1 used to love SW but got so bullied he hates camera quit acting and burned his SW stuff. Jar Jar was freaking racist! The CGI was bad like really bad.

Prequels don't get ENOUGH hate. They are wretched horrendous piles of donkey crap

Jar Jar was MEANT to be crap though. He's a bumbling idiot who somehow was given political power AND becomes the deciding vote on the Empire BEING the Empire(This was confirmed by Lucas IIRC). The love story sucked, and I'll give you that, but tCW Show REALLY made up for it. In that, Anakin is more who we're lead to believe he was in A New Hope. Vader deserved a much better backstory, I'll grant you that, but the seeds of a Good, even great movie are still there. Ewan Mcgregor was Fantastic as Obi-Wan, there's some really deep undertones about WHY the council failed and the republic fell, etc. Christenson was AWFUL, but he was just one part. The really stupid part is that the role was so terribly written and poorly miscast that it drags down the rest of the movies.

Also, I'm fully for the idea of Space CNN, but it really should have been more interesting then what we got. In fact, if I had ANY say at Disney/Lucas Films, I'd be saying "Remake the Prequel's Senate stuff but do it PROPERLY this time". There's no reason why I should want to punch everyone involved in the Senate because it's boring. Good Political Drama is FANTASTIC, but Lucas botched it up.

Don't forget Obi goes from being 35 years old to 71 in 18 years. Yup Ep III is 18 years before IV. I swear Lucas just made stuff up day by day and had no script.

According to Wookiepedia he was 58 when he died, so......

Alex Guinness was mid 60's and  only the films count. None of that EU crap Disney has buried. He was older than 58 clearly and the actor was.

Ewan was 33 in 2005 not 40. 7 years to young. So they cast the wrong aged actors esp when Alex looked older than he was.  The math does not add up.

Just more reason the prequels never happened.

What..

The actor's ages don't even matter. He can still be 58 and look older, it really isn't far fetched at all.

I really don't see the point in denying the prequels existence, just because you don't like them doesn't mean they never happened or that they're not canon because they are and denying them only makes them not canon in your own mind. I guess if that's what you'd prefer then no one can stop you but I've never understood this mentality.

A 33 year year old is is not 40.

 Yes it does.

Because they make little sense and destroy a good foundation. It takes away the integrity of the originals. It weakens the series.(Just like Hobbit is now) Thus why JJ is asked to make it strong again and why Disney erased EU. Same thing with crap like  first 3 seasons of Enterprise. Mess up continuity and integrity so jj years later had to step in and give it new life. Not JJ fan or anything. Just he happened to be asked to save the two largest sci fi series of all time because of the idiocy of the last people in charge.

Utter fraking horrendous putrid trash should take every copy and burned or taken to every film school on how NOT to make a movie.

For the record as much as it sounds like it. I don't hate them I'm just often brutal. Just stuff that bad should not exist except for the reason of everything not to do.

He can still pass for 40 despite the actor being younger at the time, a young looking 40 year old isn't unheard of.

Well I can definitely see the brutal part, it does come across as hate though. I guess you're free to dislike/hate them and you definitely wouldn't be the first to do so but personally I don't think they're all that bad, certainly not as bad as people make them out to be. Each to their own I guess.

It seems it will be much harder to disappoint me with Episode VII than it would you but maybe if your expectations are low enough it'll surprise you; not saying it will be bad just that it might not live up to what you want or expect from the series.

On a side not, I lol'd at this.

Eh, I'm not a Star Wars guy. I might have loved the first movie when I was 4 (the original trilogy and Phantom Menace), but I was 4.

To be honest, the preview is just hype bait. Look, we got stormtroopers, lightsabers, the millennium falcon... now love us because we can use nostalgia.

I'll probably end up seeing it, but people need to stop hyping it beyond belief. There is the possibility that it may just be an average movie. I liked JJ's Star Trek, but I know it is an average movie (or I'm just too much of a Picard fan).

Although the prequels get a bit too much hate, sure I may have only seen each one once (one when I was 4), but without them, we wouldn't have Tartakovsky's amazing star wars cartoons (the only star wars things I can say I am a fan of).

Having never seen any of the star wars films this trailer really didn't do much for me. Though seeing how excited everyone has gotten over just a trailer it's spurred me to watch all the movies in preparation for the new one.

Borrowing the first one on dvd from a friend and will be acquiring the rest myself.

Are you watching StarWars Rebels? 'Cus it's very similar to the OT with a bit of Firefly.

Nope. I never watched any of the TV stuff. No interest. Just saw the original films before they were messed with then the prequels on DVD/VHS.
