Is it actually true that Nintendo have discontinued some Amiibos?

Or is this just a ploy to create hysteria for more sales!?

 

If they have made this a ploy I would be pretty pissed! I hate when corporations use these tactics to create hype.

You've gotta expect the smash amiibo to soon become discontinued especially the ones not "main stream". Since there are so many figures in this line I wouldn't expect nintendo to restock every single one.

There is now the mario series amiibo and there will probably be another series later this year. So don't wait around if there is a figure you like.

Finally, nintendo has not come out and said the word "discontinued", that's from a retailer supposedly when they checked for stock of Marth or little mac and that is what their system had said.

Remember, this is the Smash series... it won't be around forever...

I bet they made a batch of each and saw that some weren't selling at much and didn't make any more.
I have a kirby , link, and mario.

I'd like to get a game and watch since I know it will be rare. Plus I like it.
But any figure that's not main stream will start to be rare

Some news came out yesterday or the day before regarding the mario series amiibo. Expect them to be in "abundance" according to Nintendo. This line is going to be what takes over most of the product pegs in store once the smash line is complete.

 

There will be more then just Mario, Peach, Luigi, Toad and Bowser. Expect Donkey Kong, Rosalina and the other classic characters which appear in MP10 and the general mario universe too,

I'm waiting for a third-party to make some sort of "SuperAmiibo" which would be able to swtich between and store the information for a bunch of Ammibos on the same device with the switch of a button. I don't think it would be that hard...

 

I don't know if I would want one, but it would allow me to keep the figurines safe while having all of them with me.

Just need the "super amiibo" to have a larger memory on the nfc chip to hold the data. But why not just an app for NFC enabled phones, or store the info in the "cloud" and access it that way hehe. Lots of ideas and possibilities, some of which may not be even considered because it would hold back profit.

 

I am curious to see when Nintendo introduces NFC cards, that seems very affordable in mass quantities for people. And... the Nintendo eshop should accept apple pay, google wallet, soft wallet etc... all the nfc enabled payment systems. That would make purchasing eshop stuff pretty snappy if you don't wish to keep cc info on file.

Meanwhile I am just waiting for Shulk to be shipped. Some amiibo are hard to get even when you been charged for them!

Not SMASH Rosalina, but in the Mario Series. It was spotted in MP10 and she is a character in that game.

I have yet to purchase one of these, but I wouldn't be surprised if certain unpopular ones were discontinued.  I expect to see link and mario amiibos for a long time to come though!

Except it's pretty clear that they didn't make enough of the first wave for some of those more "obscure" figures.  Like- I don't care for Wii Fit Trainer, Little Mack or the Villager, but I'd love a Lucario or Captain Falcon.  I can understand the store space issue, but there are other means of distribution.  Nintendo dropped the ball here and allowed scalpers to get a couple million, IMO.

I do hope we see some restocked (re manufactured) , specifically the FE series for Code Name Steam. I don't think we will see anymore little mac's, wii fit trainers, or villagers other then the stock that is currently floating around and already produced. Nintendo doesn't really care about the scalpers, at least not as a company... maybe internally they have an issue but business is business ... and to them, it's stock sold.

Well- they should care because that's money that could have added to their bottom line and then there's fans, extremely loyal fans, who are PO'd about it. Now, I'm not all that upset about it- the main ones that I want are ones that I don't care about THAT much, tho I wouldn't mind a Falcon suit for MK8 and Lucario kind of reminds me of an old dog that used to have.
