It's nice to have this rather pure archive at hand.

It's also going to incite some unnecessary trolling, argument and other stuff.

Besides, if it's some super groundbreaking news, someone ends making a topic in General Discussion anyway.

Well, I don't think it'll "incite" some trolling, but arguments are the whole point of it XD People disagree and have a discussion about it...
And starting a new thread about the same thing is pretty pointless anyway, don't ya think?
Also, we could make it so that when someone posts in that thread, it doesn't go back to the top and just stays where it is, so nobody'll get confused as to whats new

The Robles with unlocking the Wii U News section though, is that it would deter members from actually commenting on Wii U Go/Blog, which isn't something that Feld0 or David would want. The section is there as a convenience for members, so that they don't have to check both sites for Wii U News. Each article comes with a link to the story on the relevant site, so it's not that much effort to go there and comment. Alternatively, you can also start a thread in the Wii U Hardware/Games forums of the site if you really want to discuss it here.

Besides, Wii U Go still needs more views for more money.

I agree I would really like it if we could and I was about to make a topic just like this one. Also I wouldn't worry about trolling because who joins a forum just to troll? I would think that it would be nice to hear what others have to say and also I get tired having to always to go to another site just to comment on the news. So I would really like it if it were to happen!

David and I created that section specifically to drive the forums' traffic to our blogs. Allowing people to comment on the articles here on the forums can and will take away from the discussions that take place on the actual blogs.

Considering that you can get to an article's comment form with a single click and don't need another account to leave your comment, would unlocking the threads here really save you that much time and/or effort?

As was said before, if you see an article that you'd like to discuss here on the forums, you are more than welcome to start a thread in Wii U Hardware or Wii U Games about it.

Dude, why did you even bring this up? I'm 99% certain that we already had a thread like this. You couldn't even look it up to see what the answer was, could you? There's no reason to be mad. Feld0 pointed out that the reason why this whole forum exists is it's based off of the blog. Guess what? If you could comment here on stories, then 90% of the traffic to the blog would outright die. Do you want that?
