Okay I thought of this while my friend forced me to play CoD at his house and I thought of this list of FPS controls and how they have their pros and cons.

Dual analog: This is has the most pin point precision of all the controls however this will react the slowest. Also maneuverability is not as good. You would want this if you are great at high sensitivity controls.
Motion Control: This has the least precision them all but reaction is very fast and is easy to maneuver around in. These controls work best with things like a zapper or even add on an iron sight if you can!
Mouse/mousepad: This is all rounded. It doesnt offer the precision of the dual analog but has more than the motion controls. It is relatively easy to maneuver around in but gets annoying because your mouse wire only extends so far or your desk isnt large enough.

This is my list of the pros and cons but what do you think?

Some would say Mouse has the best precession when aiming, but movement sucks thanks to wasd.

woah hold up a sec here, you're totally right that after hours of playing on these controlls you would feel this way. HOWEVER, everyone who has played on these controlls for months, agrees that mouse and motion is the most accurate, i know it sounds strange, i personally havent seen this when i play, but thats cos i never played a wii shooter for more than a few days. those who play shooters hard core on wii and pc say its much more accurate than what dual analogue offers. EVEN IGN has written an article saying shooters are better on the wii.

Mouse and keyboard is definitely the most precise, but it can take some getting used to. WASD is also fine, it kind of feels like a console d-pad but camera control with the mouse makes it still feel just as good as an analog stick. I haven't played much shooters on the Wii, but the Wiimote and Nunchuk definitely seem like controllers that were practically built for FPSes. It's a shame that Nintendo didn't focus more on the genre this generation, with how popular they've been it could have been the genre to give the Wii some hardcore appeal.

This is making me wonder. When we get CoD and BF and such on the Wii U, will there be optional Wiimote/Nunchuk control or will we be forced to use the tablet?

Dual Analogue is the most accurate, but getting it into a state of being accurate is the problem. On the PC and the Wii, it's easier to track an opponent, but on the PS3/Xbox360, it can take some time to line them up. But, for the most part, shooting is controlled by the camera. What makes a Dual Analogue accurate is that you can simply let go of the right stick, and there you go, that cursor ain't going to move. On a Wii, you need to aim very steadily (in fact, that's impossible), and on a PC, it's possible if you don't have a crappy mouse

The other part to the equation is lock on speed. Obviously, you need the cursor on (or in front of, in the case of a lag match) the opponent to be able to shoot them down. In which case, the Wii and the PC badly beat out Dual Analogue. So altogether, I strongly believe all methods are about equal.

Honestly, there's no correct answer to this. You can't conclude without being biased.

Well with the Mouse and mousepad I meant that it lacked the dual analogs quick precision because it takes a while to lock onto your target with the mouse and mousepad while with the analog it takes little time.

IMO....

1. Mouse and Keyboard
2. Motion Controls
3. Dual Analog

I beg to differ. The mouse and keyboard, in my opinion, is dead accurate. Not only that but tracking your enemies is doosy. Reaction time is also very quick, but that all depends on your mouse's sensitivity (which should be quite sensitive for quick movement).

Dual analogue for me, well, sucks. I really dislike it's feel and it just does not work for me as well as mouse and keyboard.....and even motion controls for that manner.

Motion controls may not me as accurate as mouse and keyboard for me, but it's very good at tracking enemies and reacting to them as fast speed.

So, like Tenkey23, my opinion on the FPS controls are:

1. Mouse and Keyboard
2. Motion Controls
3. Dual Analogue

Dual analogue's accurate because of aim assist, there's a little program in the games that always help you you get on target, but it's so slight that you never notice it, hence why people used to Dual Analogues think it's the most accurate.

Yeah, there's more to it than how Wikipedia described it, but I learned about it from a friend who's a developer Lionhead Studios, I'll probably see if I can implement it for my final year University Project. I've still got a couple of years until that though.

Halo and COD4 are good examples of console games that use it.
