I think one of the reasons facebook appears to browse websites and communities is because they have an advertisement system. I'm not entirely sure, I'm mostly just guessing, but unless facebook has it's own search engine, it's pretty much the only thin I can come up with.

Then again, it could perhaps be facebook staff and moderators seeing the links to these pages and following them to check on them, or bots just making sure it's safe. I don't know, just an idea.

Facebook reads every page that a like button is displayed on. There is a like button on every topic page, so Facebook reads the topic every time anyone opens it. Nothing to be concerned about, really.
