The launch of the Wii U will not feature ANY Mario games on day 1
maybe a couple of months later they will launch a Mario game
Hopefully Mario Kart Wii U !!!!!!!!
This is a repeat of history as the Gamecube launched without  Mario titles as well

how does this make you feel?

We're still not sure when Mario will be released, and Wii didn't launch with a Mario game either.

As already mentioned the Wii didn't launch with a Mario game either. That said nothing has been confirmed yet regards the launch of the Wii U and there may well be a Mario game at launch. I suspect we will know more after Nintendo's E3 press conference.

Nintendo would not have any problems launching without a Mario game if they have a game like Wii Sports launching with it.

Um. I don't really care if it does or not. Mario isn't needed as long as the other launch games are good enough. Especially if it has a little mini games thing bundled with it like Wii Sports. (I'm thinking those tech demos from last E3)
I may be slightly biased since I'm not too much of a Mario fan... I just casually play a game once in a while, but I'd like to see Nintendo have less of a Mario overload and put out some less loved IPs and some new ones.

Um... it's launching without a Mario? I never heard this. if it wasn't, though, it wouldn't matter so long as they have other great games at launch.

I believe in the SMB4 launchtitle rumor. NSMBMii for UWare seems legit too. Off course it will launch with Mario, it would be a systemseller.
No sig.

I just read a feature about that on Nintendo Life. :)

I think I'm the only one that wouldn't pick up Mario if there are other games on the Wii U that are more worth it. If it's a 2D mario then I won't pick it up at launch as I am ASSUMING that it will pretty much be SMB and the Wii U feature will be to play it on the controller. I'm not too fussed about their not being a Mario game as long as the other offerings are of a greater experience, I really don't see a 2D mario game being a better Wii U experience than say a 3D mario game where the controller can be used in a very inuitive way.

So in all if it's just going to stream the same game image to the controller and not have the controller show a differen't perspective then it's a no buy for me.

of course it's launching with mario, its common sense, they dont want a repeat of 3DS launch, they already announced new mario for wii u, mario made the 3DS sell like crazy. common sense

I believe in the SMB4 launchtitle rumor.

There is a 0.01% chance that this will happen.

The two last consoles launched without Mario. GameCube and Wii. One sold poorly, one sold like hotcakes (and was higher priced too). So how did the cheaper GameCube sell less than the more expensive but graphically weak Wii? The casual appeal of the new motion controls gimmick, Wii Sports, and Zelda Twilight Princess to lure in the core gamers.

GameCube had no big IP on launch day (sorry Rogue Squadron II and Luigi's Mansion) but it did get Pikmin and SSBM 2 weeks after launch.

So for the Wii U, if it launches without Mario, then they need to hope the tablet controller attracts the casuals, Pikmin attracts the core, and sales take off.

But all of this is a moot point as I think there is a 95% chance that Super Mario Bros. Mii is a launch title so the Wii U will launch with Mario (and 2D Mario sells like hotcakes!)

There is a 0.01% chance that this will happen.

Actually, after the number crunching, it's 0.00000013597852% chance that will happen. Hell I don't even think they can scrape a gameplay trailer together for E3 as Project Sora just finished KI:U in January.

Never argue with an idiot, they drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

Im a nintendo fan first of all but i dont think a mario game is necesserery unless its a brand new concept. If nintendo just throws us another re hash of an old product they are basicily stopping people buying something new. Who else has been in a game store with enough money for only one game and instinctivly bought a mario game because they didnt want to risk trying out a new concept? I have and apart from mario kart 7 and galaxy ive been really let down.
