Ok so let's get it out of the way... The nintendo E3 presentation was a fail. They had the chance to blow us away and didn't. With that said I'm still excited for the console big time. I've been a nintendo fan since I've benn gamin let's just say 20 years. I've seen there high of highs(SNES) and lows of lows(gamecube). I still believe in this console. One thing that convinced me today is that this controller is truly a gamechanger. I want to play games with this controller. Another things is nintendo and HD graphics. All of the games looked good no matter what the full specs are games look good on this console with confirmed 1080p. The other thing is it still is early. So am holding out hope that games like zombi u will look even better when at launch as the final dev kits have only been out for a couple of months. So that's it. Yes I was disappointed with their conference but I believe there are great things in store for those that buy this console.

Pretty much. While I got less excited for the launch of the console, I still know it's gonna be cool.

Did you see the quote from The Guardian stating Wii U may be Nintendos best console since SNES?

http://mynintendonew...-the-super-nes/

But I agree, this conference was a major fail. It should have been like shooting fish in a barrell, but they missed. Maybe its bc they didn't have anything better to present, which is disappointing.

But, alas, the 3D mario, HD zelda, metroid, smash bros, mario kart, star fox type games WILL come... eventually. But none of them at launch is disapointing. I still feel Wii U will be fantastic, it just won't have an epic launch window.

I still want to be excited, but it's hard. My question would be WHY didn't Nintendo even try to "wow" us? They knew darn well what the hype was, fair or not, and it really appeared they didn't even attempt to appeal to hardcore gamers or those DYING for something to cling to when looking forward to the console's release.

I said it on another thread, but since I have a ton of gamestop credit I'll still probably pre-order it just in case Nintendo does turn it around and show off something impressive and "must have" before the launch, but if I was 90% buying it on launch day yesterday, that's dropped to 30% today...a generous 30%. I'm not into Pikman so basically all I really saw that I wanted was New Super Mario Bros. U, but I cant see myself buying a console for that. I have a 360 and PS3 already so it'll be hard to justify buying multi-platform games for the Wii U, especially ones that have been out for almost a year by that time and likely will be a fraction of the price of what the Wii U ones will cost.

My love for Nintendo wants me to buy it on launch day, but logic and the Wii's track record on a lot of things are strongly pulling me away. E3 could've at least taken ONE more step toward giving people a reason to buy at launch, but I'd imagine for the vast majority of gamers it just pushed them further away.

I don't get what Nintendo did or what they were thinking. Will or do investors still see this as a sure thing? Given what the Wii has done in the last couple years, how underpowered it will be against the next-gen consoles, etc...? Who were they trying to appeal to? Or did they just not care about living up to any standard at E3 for whatever reason? If that's the case, that shows some interesting audacity on Nintendo's part. I would not automatically count on this thing flying off the shelves just because it's going to say Wii on it, especially if the $350 price rumors are true.

The GameCube was a sales failure but it won the hearts of many Nintendo fans over. It saw excellent entries in the Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, Mario Kart, Starfox, Smash Bros, franchises. It saw the revival of Metroid in the criticially acclaimed Metroid Prime 1& 2. It saw a brand new IP in Pikmin and it's sequel. It got decent third party support for most of its life (it got all the FIFA's, NHL's, Maddens, Soul Calibur II, Sonic games, Resident Evil 4, etc). It was graphically capable with it's competitors and it had a normal controller with awesome triggers and comfort. No gimmicks. When it was revealed at E3 2001 they showed Pikmin, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Luigi's Mansion, Wave Race, Star Fox Adventures and Eternal Darkness.

Wii U showed us Pikmin 3 and NSMBU. No new IP's, nothing from their most talented studios (EAD Tokyo 1 of Super Mario Galaxy 1 fame, Retro, Monolith, etc.) It has no identity, it is a tablet but also a controller. Do they want the core or casuals? Because that conference was 95% casual with the first 10 minutes or so dedicated to us. There was no graphical showcase of a game, no teaser trailers, no gameplay trailers of core games, nothing! What have they done for 1 year? They have 3 first party studios that havent relesed a game in 2+ years (the 3 I mentioned above, EAD 1 actually hasn't made a new game since 2007). You're telling me none of those studios had even a 30 second trailer of alpha footage or a cgi trailer two years into development time?

I am still very excited. But the launch lineup is so... Bland. Sure, we have games that look promising from third parties (ZombiU), but I was fully expecting a first party launch lineup like no other.

Like, ffs, when the great software drought of 08-holiday 09 happened at least nintendo rewarded us with NSMB Wii, Kirby's Epic Yarn, Super Mario Galaxy 2, NMH 2, Metroid Other M and Donkey Kong Country Returns in 2010.

2011 was a barren year for Wii except for Kirby and Skyward Sword and 2012 is only good in North America because of late ports of the Operation Rainfall games. So my theory was that all the development had gone into the Wii U and they would announce the schedule for 2012-2013 so I know the software drought had a reason and I wouldn't need to suffer long.

But they showed me nothing and just confirmed that my Wii was useless after Xmas 2010 (I have played 3 games on my Wii since Xmas 2010, Skyward Sword, Return to Dreamland, and Xenoblade. I plan on buying the Last Story). How many people do you know who survive off of 4 games a year from their consoles? This is ridiculous.

Nintendo better pray the roundtable reveals future games, or the Wii will be my last Nintendo console. Nintendo needs to realize that they can't sell a console just for Nintendo games. Not everyone can buy a PC or PS4 or Xbox 720 to get their complete gaming fix. It all has to be available for the Wii U and Nintendo has dropped the ball so far.

the thing with wii u is its just another wii so far in my eyes

i thought the third party support would be amazing and at this stage its not ubisoft have given us ass creed 3 and zombiu but wat about far cry 3??

so is this it?? im still praying they just punked us all with that conference with the real one still too be shown but its not gunna happen.

its a console with 6 year old tech and a touch screen.

There were some funny jokes today that the "U" in Wii U stood for "Ubisoft" since most of the good games announced were from them (of all the third party publishers, Ubisoft actually saved E3 and Nintendo for that matter, who knew?).

I will still buy the system on day one, however the press conference was god awful. (Except for the beginning) Too much time on casual games, not enough on hardcore games.

i think expectations were too high a lot of nintendo studios just finished working on 3ds or wii games so they weren't ready
as for retro they had only two years since dkcr released and they are only 60 persons so it's more than normal their game isn't finished

Well, the presentation is not over yet, remember Nintendo All Access. Nintendo's presentation was awesome but the awesome bits were scattered around and the spaces were filled with less exiting bits. I will show you the awesome parts now.

I haven't turned on my Wii is probably a year, maybe more. My entire Wii library is down to about 8 games, including Wii Sports and Sports Resort that I got for "free." I certainly appreciate a quality game over a crappy game with prettier graphics, but at this point when it comes down to it, I'm not interested in playing games in 480p anymore, because there ARE plenty of good games WITH great graphics on the other 2 consoles I own.

Is that going to happen in 2 years if I buy a Wii U and then a NextBox or PS4? I see very little reason to buy multi-platform games for the Wii U over the other consoles if they're going to look the same, and I'm not a Pikman fan, so what will that leave me with maybe 3-4 games for the foreseeable future to play?

I'm just saying it's hard to be excited. If Nintendo had done a little more on graphics power, a little more of software library (talk to me at least about some more launch window possibilities) maybe I'd still be excited...and maybe they still will.

I'm one of the gamers who was interested in buying a Wii U for pretty first-party titles from Nintendo. I really don't care for the Gamepad. It might be innovative on a few titles, but how many games was the WiiMote REALLY implemented well for, and how many Wii games really needed a different control scheme? I keep thinking back to the last time I used my Kinect, it was to try Gunslinger, which was actually a well-reviewed game, but I hated the motion controls. The entire time I was thinking "this might be a tolerable game if I could just use the controller." My gut tells me I will much more often than not feel that way about the Wii U Gamepad...which is fine, I can always get myself a Pro Controller (the BEST part about E3 as far as I'm concerned), but if the graphics don't wow me, I know myself and I know the Wii U will go dormant in my house just like the Wii has...and I'm guessing it'll be the same for a LOT of gamers and casuals, and they'll all be doing a little more thinking this time around before blindly buying into the Nintendo hype (if it's even there).

Thanks for posting that line-up video man. It makes me feel much better about the line-up.

I still don't think I will buy a Wii U this year tho... There are not many first party games I'm dying to get. I'll try to stay spoiler-free for NSMBU (plus, I will be playing NSMB2 for a while.. hope it has online intergrations too) and the console doesn't graphically impress me, though ZombiU looked great in that trailer and if AC3 is indeed PC level instead of console, then it's great too.
No sig.
