Just a thought on the names of the two gamepads. The only difference between them is that one has a touchscreen with a lot of really cool features. Yet, the one without the screen is called the Wii U gamepad "pro". Any thoughts?

@ storabajskorven Du har det sämsta namn jag någonsin har sett på ett forum

I know this guy is swedish because of his name -_-

Also the screen is cool. It's innovative. Why the controller pro is called pro is because you can play with it in long sessions easier cause it's more suited for that.

It's a marketing gimmick to appeal to the hardcore gamers who label themselves as "hardcore gamers".

^That was probably an opinion, chill.

Exactly. But honestly, i can see why the Wii's classic controller was pro, but cant see a real difference for the Wii U's, apart from being a marketing gimmick. And I think that the gamepad is a hardcore controller

That pretty much sums it up. Funnily enough these so called, "hardcore" gamers, are so against "gimmicks". :P

It's more than likely labelled pro after the classic controller pro for the Wii.

Also, consider games in the future where both the Wii U Gamepad and Wii U Gamepad Pro are used in sync.

It lacks the gimmickry of the touch screen and is thus more ergonomic with its Xbox 360 controller inspired design. It's for offering an experience that is about the game itself rather than trying to impress users with fancy gimmicks.

This statement is false. The previous statement is true.

pretty much what nollog said: it was made to appeal those gamers who think that anything beyond two analog sticks is gimmicky...

I am yet to see some practical uses for the touchscreen that aren't just about the gimmickry of it all.

I figured they named it that because of how it's based off of the Classic Controller Pro. The CCP was "Pro" because of its minor improvements over the CC.
It is not meant for longer gaming sessions. It's primary use is for local MP. The tablet can be charged while playing, and it should be comfortable so long as your hand isn't insanely small :) (Although it's possible some games will allow use of the controller in single player, don't expect it on all games).

It may sound like something so simple, but maps.
Seriously, cutting the load time in Assassin's Creed.

Your face is a gimmick.
To be clear here, CUD isn't saying a gimmick is a bad thing, he's just saying it could bring brand new things to gameplay, which this Pro controller will lack.

pretty much what nollog said: it was made to appeal those gamers who think that anything beyond two analog sticks is gimmicky...

Actually, my comment was more about the people who need an ego boost so label themselves as "pro" or "hardcore".
Seeing something called "pro", makes them want to use it, given that.

It's in the definition of "gimmick".
A Gimmick is something which brings something brand new to an otherwise dead, dying, or stagnant product series.
In this case, the classic PS3/360 controller design.

That's a good point, I can see the convenience of having a map on the other screen but I'm not sure that trading ergonomics for a slight convenience is that great an idea; well not to me at least.

Yes I am saying it could bring new things to gameplay and the pro controller will lack those things but I do not see holding up the controller to aim through a scope, for example, as a new feature that I want from my gaming.

This statement is false. The previous statement is true.

Well, you are supposed to take a 15 minute rest break for every hour of gameplay.

It's not that bad, to be honest. I found gyro aiming much easier than standard aiming with the bow in OoT3D

You haven't tried it yet.

What kind of crap comeback is that? IT APPLIES TO YOU TO!

Only if you give an opinion on if you like/want it or not. Nollog hasn't said that.(at least in this thread.)

Its just how Nintendo names things it's pro because Its less heavy so provides less strain on your hands to allow you to play for longer periods of time .
