I am not a huge fan of shooting games, but if I am going to play one, it's going to be third person. I prefer the 3rd person point of view way better than first person. I would rather see my character and surrounding area. I hate just seeing arms and it just doesn't feel right for me.

I don't think i have a preference really, it depends on the game.

This statement is false. The previous statement is true.

RIP in peace Nintendo.

I normally prefer a third person view too. I'd rather see my character than just their arms and gun. I don't tend to notice too much when I'm actually playing the game though.

As far as shooters go, first person, however I do like third person in some games, adventure games, platformers, and some RPGs.

it depends what you like, first person is suppose to make it look more realistic, and thrid person shooter is suppose to make the game more platforming and adventure.

Poll added.

I'm not the greatest fan of shooters, but I think I prefer third-person, for the same reason as AMAC.

I don't get FPSs. The point of gaming is that you get to experience stuff impossible in the real world! I don't want to be limited to seeing what my character can see.

Although it depends on the game, I think I prefer third person.

First person view ftw, I love ADS (Aiming Down the Site). The other reason I like FPS's is that you can see the quality and beautifulness of the gun that your shooting. I don't really like how in 3rd person, you have to look at your character, then when you aim, it's only a circle.
I think that's boring IMO, that is why I prefer games like CoD and Battlefield. The only 3rd person shooter game I like is Star Wars Battlefront 2.

It really depends on the game.
Like at first, I can say a 3rd Person game can give more cinematic power, so it might create stronger depth to the game. These games give you a better view of things happening around the character, whether it'd be a shooter like Resident Evil, or an MMORPG like Diablo.

First Person games, can become more immersive than 3rd Person. Let's take Metroid Prime for example (because CoD is overrated and overhated). I personally feel that game is so much better in the 1st person perspective.

Somehow I was going to mention Amnesia: The Dark Descent in that argument, but because I didn't, I wrote this sentence.

Trophy Cards are classy too! LOLZIGZAGOON

First-person shooters are great for giving gamers a more personal experience, or even adopting the personality of the character. Yet, third-person shooters allow more dynamic gameplay options. For example, melee combat in first-person shooters haven't been refined yet (The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim doesn't really count), so third-person shooters win me over with that because developers have been very flexible in seamlessly incorporating both shooting and brawling in games like Uncharted.

THIRD PERSON ALL THE WAY!!!
I hate first person view, it is tedious, but 3rd person view is amazing.

For me it has to be first person. One of my favourite games is Fallout 3 which has the option for both views and I never play it in 3rd person except at the beginning to try it. For me first person view is a continuation of the normal view people have so it makes game seem like a real world and therefore much more immersive. I like the clear aiming view of first person too. Also the atmosphere and excitement of games is increased with first person I think.

For Metroid I like first person for a normal shooter, third person.

I voted third person because I prefer it in all my games, even though I don't play shooters.
For some reason the 3rd person view actually feels MORE immersive to me, not less like everyone else says. It also seems more realistic (no hands in front of your screen), even though games are far from being realistic at the moment.

I prefer the interchangeable games (like the upcoming Skyrim). 3rd person for the majority, but 1st person for careful aiming.
