I don't mind DVDs. But blu-rays would be nice because I don't won't have any more HDMI ports open after Wii U.

But I will probably have a new TV by then, because my current one is only 720p, and I would like a new 1080p tv by the time this launches; hopfully haveing more HDMI ports.

It would be nice if it could play blu-ray, but it wont prevent me from buying it if it doesn't :D

It is a gaming system after all.

That's something that I don't care but I'm still curious about TV/Video thing that we saw in E3 Wii U reveal or it's from Internet browser?

That's a really good point actually. It's online abilities may render the need for traditional DVD or Blu-Ray playback needless. Or am I being optimistic?

Isn't Netflix dominating? I mean the Wii has access to Netflix (through a disc, right?) so it looks like the journalist forgot to mention something.

I have a Blu-Ray player, I don't need one in the Wii U.

I think this quote from the article I wrote on the subject for Wii U Go sums it up quite nicely:

The Wii U will almost certainly still be able to play movies via Netflix' date=' seeing its penetration into almost every platform under the sun, so I doubt it’ll remain entirely movie-less. [b']But let’s face it: you’re not gonna be buying a pricey high-end gaming console with one of the most complex controllers the industry has ever seen just to watch movies, right?[/b]

Nintendo always seems to bring something new to the table while omitting features that we'd "like to see" but aren't deal breakers. <_<

Nope. I have my PS3 for Blu Ray plus another DVD player in the same room. So I see no point! And Iwata said it correctly: Majority of people who spend money on Gaming consoles will already have a DVD player/Blu Ray player in some form. Although if Blu Ray was an option, that would be nice (just for convenience).

I actually do kind of care. The fact that the Wii did not do that put me off immensely and even more so with the Wii-U. While I don't watch movies every day, it would have been nice to at least watch DVD's. Sony and Microsoft does this, why not Nintendo?

I don't mind too much but it would have been useful.

I do not care. My DVD player plays DVD's. My Blu-Ray player plays Blu-Ray videos.
I purchase consoles for games, not video/movie playback. <_<
