The topic that you're reading is NOT 100% official and consider this topic to labled "rumor". According to vgleaks.com, they've recieved an intel from an anonymous source about the specifications coming from a Wii U Dev Kit. Here are the details-- Again, this is not 100% legit so please take this rumor with a hefty grain of salt.


Hardware Features
Main Application Processor
  • PowerPC architecture.
  • Three cores (fully coherent).
  • 3MB aggregate L2 Cache size.
  • core 0: 512 KB
  • core 1: 2048 KB
  • core 2: 512 KB
  • Write gatherer per core.
  • Locked (L1d) cache DMA per core.
Main Memory
  • Up to 3GB of main memory (CAT-DEVs only). Note: retail machine will have half devkit memory
  • Please note that the quantity of memory available from the Cafe SDK and Operating System may vary.

Well, I've got salt, but I don't speak tech-ese, tech-ish, tech-ian, or whatever you wanna call it. If this were true, would it be good overall?

I don't believe that was ever confirmed, I'm pretty sure it was just a rumor that's gotten to the point where most assume it is Power7.

I'm getting tired of rumor specs, they're all so different its not even worth it. Just wait till the consoles released.

I think the processor is an upgrade to what we have in the Wii

I believe it uses some architecture used in the POWER7 due to IBM confirming it uses the same technology used in the WATSON supercomputer.

My theory is they used the POWER 7 architecture to enhance the Broadway so it can support multi-threading and have a huge L2 cache, but leave out the L3 cache used in the POWER 7, oh and a clock of 3Ghz.

I'm hoping it can support either 3 or 4 threads/core which would bring it roughly between 1.5x the 360 and 2x.
