Because VC, WiiWare, and other Wii downloads are tied to the console, how do you think the transfer of data from the Wii to the Wii U work? Will they do what they did with DSiWare going to the 3DS? Or something so we don't have to keep our Wiis (if you are going to sell it towards the Wii U)? I don't think Nintendo would care about selling your Wii, though.

Most likely they will do it the same way as the DSi to 3DS. It's the easiest way to do it IMO.

I expect that it'll be similar to how data is transferred from DSi to 3DS. It would also be nice if it could just be done on an SD card as it would save some time.

But it won't be done through SD card. To prevent copyright, the transfer must be made while connected to the Internet to make sure the data from the old system is deleted.

I predict it'll be done the same way the 3DS transfer is; except by inputting your Wii's friend code on the Wii U's transfer tool and vice versa.

That's if they support it. Don't forget this is a completely new console and we don't necessarily know what Nintendo is up to, they want us to keep our Wii Remotes, maybe they want to keep the Wii too. Though I doubt it and it is highly unlikely. I won't be particularly upset if there is know system transfer, as long as I can still transfer my Wii gamesaves.

Unless it's a copy-protected save file, you should have no trouble bringing it over via SD card. I've given copies of my own save data for some games to friends before. But I do hope they let you copy your copy-protected save files one way or another, too - I'd hate to lose all my Mario Kart Wii or Super Smash Bros. Brawl data.

I was looking at my game saves yesterday, and did you know Mario Kart Wii save data can't be transferred Mario Kart Wii save data can't be transferred? I know that's the case for some other games, too. I wonder if those will be transferable?

Has anybody thought about that? I mean, really? Everybody has been posting topics about the 3DS connecting to the Wii U. I mean, can you transfer data from your original Wii to your new Wii U? That'll be helpful, if your gonna stop using Wii after you purchase your Wii U. Then your won't have to completely start over! :)
