Okay so we've seen how Rayman Legends uses NFC in Wii U, but I had some EXTREMELY BETTER IDEAS!!!

1) F-Zero, so someone had some really cool ideas before and I had some to go along with that. You can standalone purchase a Rider (or what ever the vehicles are called?) figure and when you scan it in game, it unlocks a new rider and character!

2) Mario Kart!!! So when you buy the game it could come with 3 NFC figures of items that you would use on the course. When you hit an item block, and it reads "NFC" you can take one of your figures like a Mushroom, Shell, or a Completely New item that is only available as an NFC item and use it!

3) I don't have much more but if any of you have any other ideas I'd be happy to put them up here under your name!

Not sure about buying characters for the game as the figures will be expensive. UGGGGHhhhhhhhhhh...INDUUUUSSTTRRRRYYYYY!!!!!

That would be annoying if Nintendo went all Skylanders on us.

Oh god, please don't do that to F-Zero... That'd be an awful attempt at a cash grab, I have to say. :(

Uh...I can find several ideas wrong with this stuff.

#1: F-Zero shouldn't be going the Skylanders route. Ever.

#2: Yes, let's unbalance the game to the point of being unplayable online. Seriously, what's to stop somebody from constantly grabbing those blocks and having a golden mushroom toy.

Just my two bits.

If there is one thing gamers love more than DLC it is having to drive to the store to buy something that will unlock something else that is already on the disk. (Sarcasm)

Dang, what's with all the hate?! I'm not saying that this has to happen, I'm saying that these would be pretty innovative!

Flying Cars are innovative too. But these ideas are the same these are not "EXTREMELY BETTER IDEAS!!!"
Cards and Figures should only be used for maybe Marioparty and 3rd party games. A good idea is to buy cards for Konami's next Yugioh game.

why stick to basic figures when you can make them customisable?

example of this:

I'm all for collectable games as long as one figure/card isn't superior to any others.

There are impracticalities to reaching for a figurine whilst racing.

Just imagine this, Super Smash Bros 4! Now with evn more characters but the only ones in the game are Mario, Link, Kirby, and Pikachu! So now you have to go out and buy more characters, Yeah! (my wallet is crying right now).

Skylanders works just because it's a full single player game so having 3 characters at the start doesn't hurt, fighting games on the other hand would have a difficult time trying to get additional NFC characters to work.

How about a game like Custom Robo, and you can put together robot pieces of a figurine and then put that robot in the game. It's hard to think of ideas for this that won't burn holes through people's wallets.

I like the NFC Glove idea that someone came up with a while back. The one where each fingertip has a different NFC sensor on it and each one has a different effect in game.

I'm really hoping most the uses for the NFC feature will just be for cool addons to games...I'm a huge anime/game figure/model collector/builder and if they came out with like a special edition (insert name here) figure that just happens to also unlock that character in said game or something...I'd be all over it.....I don't want it to be a main focus like Skylanders.

I like this idea Naomi. Seems great and even though the Mario Kart idea will bring a lot of cheaters to the game it will also bring excitement to it as well. Thumbs up!

The only way the F-Zero thing would work if it was a limited edition pack in. Not so much for a competitive racing vehicle per se, but let's say if there was a challenge in F-Zero where you had to navigate a course and collect things (like Crash Team Racing's time trial) or you had to navigate at ever increasing speeds until you crash (like Wipeout's zone events), then this particular bonus vehicle becomes the most practical at navigating these with ridiculous handling, or something to that effect. Of course, these are doable without this bonus vehicle, but it makes these more bearable.

For Mario Kart, it would have to be low level items. Having stuff like Blue Shells, POW blocks, Super Stars, Golden Mushrooms and Red Homing Shells would be broken. Green Shells, Bananas and Invisibility would be cool. But as Nollog said, it's impractical mid race. I'd have to lay my controller flat then put the figurine on it. During those precious seconds, I could be watching Luigi falling down into a ravine. I suppose you could have a limited edition one that lets you race as Pac-Man or something, but eh, I'm not dishing out some coins for that, unless it was box-in with Tekken Wii U. Which, you know, it's totally an awesome idea.

On the topic of card games (more specifically Yu-Gi-Oh), can they finally put in a system where you press a button, or touch the screen, so that the game knows you want to counter an opponent's move, rather than asking every 2 seconds. The fact that you had to say "No" 17 or so times in a single turn revel in the beautiful sunshineed me off, and the reason why I don't play card based video games no more. Back on topic, it would be nice if they had a scanner on the Wii U Gamepad, so you can add any legit cards you have to your library automatically.

Super Smash huh. Extra characters should be more like Extra character. I wouldn't be willing to buy a bunch of figures for the sake of adding more characters, but perhaps just the once. It's more likely to sell that way than if you had a ton. Pack it in as part of a limited edition for all I care. Also, DLC fighters should actually be downloaded content, not some unlock code for on-disc crap... Non-Specific Action Figure please.

Custom Robo sounds cool, but that's going to have to be a fairly large figure or you are going to have a lot of child-hazardous pieces everywhere. I do like the idea, but considering the amount of customisation you can do, I reckon only having the custom parts for some rare pieces would work.

NFC Glove huh? "Let's Tap" sequel comes to mind. I can actually, most flimsily, see a dodgy as Guitar Hero type coming from this as well. Four fingers at the bottom, strumming the right stick... Yep, totally dodgy.

Here's a few ideas of my own.

Kirby. Using a figurine to instant change Kirby to an ability you want. You'd have to put in a system that limits how often you can do that (whether it would be a gauge, time based, or stock). Better Kirby abilities have higher in-game prices (Not real prices, I mean more gauge, time delay or stock abused.)

[Will add more when I think of them]

For Mario Kart it wouldn't work well. I mean your left hand is steering with the analog stick and your right hand holding acceleration button and drifting. It would be annoying to take one hand off and grab the figure and hold it up on the gamepad you're holding upwards. Maybe before the start of a race to have a head start item that couldn't be used for another 10 seconds, but even then that could break the start of the race. I don't think it could work and be convenient at the same time.
