Well it happens in the gaming industry quite often these days. 360 had a redesign. So did PS3. Not to mention the handhelds...

Q: Do you think Nintendo will make a redesigned Wii U later on in the future?

Follow-ups: How do you feel about the idea?
Does this affect your thoughts on buying an early version of the Wii U?
How about the Gamepad?

It's possible, but I don't see any reasons to do so. Even if they redesigned it, the early models would most likely be just as good (Unless there was an overheating issue or something).

No. But Nyko will be making a Wii U controller in maybe 2013. I would like to see how cool 3rd party Wii U gamepad's are.

Now the Wii pretty much stayed the same, didn't it?
I mean the Wii remotes had a bit of a redesign, but the console itself isn't any different from the day 1 model.

Every console of the current gen has had a redesign, so I think it's probable that there will be a redesign for the Wii U at some point. If it was simply a change in the look of the console, I'd have nothing against it and it wouldn't put off buying an early model.

It's not really Nintendo's thing when it comes to consoles. I prefer it that way too. Unlike handhelds, Nintendo usually gets their console designs spot-on the first time.

nah, maybe, but only if there is a big problem with the original that means a redesign is necessary (hopefully not of course)

The Wii only had one change and that was like 3-5 years in it's lifecycle, and I don't think they will re-design it until at least the 5th year unless there is a major problem with the systems, then of course it would be earlier. I have nothing agaisnt changes on consoles (except from the 3DS and DS changes which I don't even own) and I will proberly keep my early version unless something goes wrong with it.

Plus the Nyko controller will have circle pads for anyone upset because they changed to analog's.

Nintendo doesn't traditionally redesign its home consoles and I think the last one that may have been was the SNES. I doubt very much the Wii U will get a redesign.

Yes it's possible that the Wii U could get a redesign every console nowadays have one and it's not like they couldn't make a slimmer Wii U with more efficient parts later down the line.

Hmm, I suppose they could perhaps later on introduce one with a built in hard drive. But I don't think Nintendo usually does any drastic re-designs on their home consoles. Never effects me anyway since I'm always an early adopter :P

Wii U slim, Wii U with more memory that's probably it nobody should be worried about this redesigns for home consoles are normal and usually just small changes.

I don't think they will.
They design their consoles well from the start.
Anything they do to it would be minor things to save costs, like removing Gamecube play in the Wii.

Nintendo hasn't really drastically changed a home console before, but they do sometimes add color to try to get more sales. I'm surprised e didn't more color with the Wii.

IF the original launch console has a problem like overheating, than a redesign is imminent
but nintendo has a pretty good record otherwise

the only reason for the wii was getting rid of gamecube functionality, and a more cost efficient development
