Well, the PS Eye Toy was around before the Wii. I can agree with the similarities between the Wii remote and the PS Move controller though.

Didn't Sony actually have the Eye toy before the Wii?

This statement is false. The previous statement is true.

RIP in peace Nintendo.

I think it's a bit overkill to say that so many things were "copied" from Nintendo... I mean, inspiration is never a bad thing. If Nintendo or any other video game company manages to innovate in some way, then by all means, everyone else should do the same. Could you imagine what games would be like if Sony had never taken the idea of the analog stick from Nintendo? Or if MS hadn't been inspired by Sega with online gaming? Yeah sure, you can say they "copied" these things. But personally I don't see that as anything wrong.

Maybe one day it will be entirely normal to have a touchscreen integrated into all controllers as well. And yeah, Sony and MS will "steal" the idea from Nintendo at first. But in the long run it'll be better for everyone. Innovative ideas are meant to be copied. ;)

This topic makes me cringe. It's one thing to defend Nintendo, but it's another thing to use crap comparisons.

I don't understand why people hate it when someone copies, it's not that big of a deal. We wouldn't have Mario or many of the other great games today if copying wasn't allowed. This is just my opinion though so don't hate

Well this wasn't so much defending Nintendo as it was attacking its competition.

It is called Nintendo innovating, and then other companies making their own interpretation of that thing. Looking at it as copying is closed minded.

Sorry if it came of as that.
What I meant was that this was probably made by some Nintendo fanboy thinking they were defending the Nintendo when in reality they are probably making the Nintendo fanbase seem petty.

Im fine with it as long as they give credit to Nintendo for the inspiration. Though it makes me slightly angry when they call something "gimmicky" and go and do it themselves.

For the 1st one, 4 buttons is pretty standard and is the most reasonable buttons to use, and that color scheme of red, blue, green, and yellow is VERY common and can be found in many, many places, such as the colors used for the Windows logo, the Google logo, Microsoft Office logo, the colors to represent players in SSB, the flag for the Republic of Mauritius, and the first generation of Pokemon games. It's a pleasing set of colors to see together. Nintendo doesn't own those colors...

Among other things, Nintendo doesn't even use those colour buttons anymore. Look at the DS, Wii and 3DS. Microsoft and Sony still do.

Nintendo copied the gamescom with the touch screen.

Keep in mind that it wasn't the companies that called it gimmicky, it was the fanbases. The actual companies probably thought it was genius from the start, but too worried to put it out in the market first thinking there was a chance it would fail
