Apparently square is going to be having major updates and dlc often to push DQX for ten years. Wow, just Wow!! Its going to be interesting to see if people play it that long, outside of Japan anyway. Do you like the route their going?

I like the fact they are bringing an EXCLUSIVE to nintwndo and actually SUPPORTING it. 3rd parties pay attention this is how you do it.

Hopefully that doesn't mean that they won't make Dragon Quest X| for 10 years, that's a pretty long wait for a sequel.

Im so jealous this is only in Japan. There blocking Ip addresses and a few sites are even blocking purchases from from US and EU!! I seriously hope this game gets released for us soon. I don't care if its a new free to play model or subscription, i need a good new mmo in my life and dragon quest X looks like it's it from the videos i have watched.

Been watching a livestream and the game is pretty fun. I admit it's geared toward DQ fans and not MMO players per se, but it does bring something new to DQ while maintaining the classic atmosphere. I'm so excited for that I even started playing the DS remakes since I never did.

Wow. This could potentially be the best MMO on consoles if they are going to support it for 10 years. I hope they announce something for outside of Japan soon.

Be wary, the suck is coming.

Well, Runescape has held up pretty well for something that's roughly 10 years.

They can do it.

I'm kind of confused by this..they are going to support this game for 10 years after the Wii is replaced by the Wii U? Why not just bring it over to the Wii U...or am I missing something

Ahhh ok - didn't see the Wii U part....no NA or EU release huh? we can only hope that within that 10 year period they can see it in their hearts to bring it over!

Yes both NA and EU, it's just that mmos and jrpgs aren't as popular outside of japan

Not as popular? I hate to break it to you, but mmo's aren't big in Japan like they are everywhere else. JRPG's..yes the fanbase and want for them has unfortunately shrunk over the years..but DQ is still a big seriers behind FF with a good following world wide...who knows though.

Even so, DQ is HUGE in Japan, and the developers think it's a good way to bridge JP players to MMOs with it, although the game was made with DQ fans in mind.

I'm not saying Japan doesn't have mmo's. And Sorry, I should of realized you meant console mmo's specifically, I just generalized. Either way...I would like to see it come out in the states.

It's okay, I'm pretty sure it will be localized by Nintendo outside of japan. It's a really big win to have it exclusive, possibly for ten years to. Most likely will come out in the states if and when they decide to get rid of the monthly fee. So we might not see a wii release but that's okay with me.

I want this game to be localized, but I really don't want to have to pay a fee. I always thought it was dumb to have to buy a game and then pay more to play it. Why can't it just be like DC Universe online where both the game and online are free.(:-D)--|--<

I'm not too sure, but I believe monthly fees are to cover costs for servers.

This is just the logical conclusion to an industry trend.

Just as dawn guard was basically an expansion to skyrim. Almost a whole other game.

Instead of having to redevelop, remarket, and repackage a new sequel, they'll cash in on "episodic downloads"

Not a bad way to go.

Especially if they bring engine improvements with the dlc just as they would with a new game.

Otherwise, it's a cop out.
