This is very sad news. And I was just about to subscribe, too.

Inside sources are saying that Nintendo Power may continue digitally; the printing will cease to exist (in this situation).

The Wii U is supposed to have magazines available for download, wouldn't it be cool to have Nintendo Power digitally on your Wii U? I would pay for it!

I'm still unsure if I should take this seriously or not.

While the news is disappointing to hear, it sounds to me like this is more a "he said, she said" type source rather than an actual piece of paper or statement that says it's going under.

Plus, I'm not sure that they'd cancel a magazine with 475k subscribers at $20-30 every couple of years or so.

The whole thing just doesn't make sense, but I'll just keep an eye on it for now.

This would make me very sad if it were true. I hope Nintendo goes ahead, and buys the rights to the magazine back from Future. Digital would be an ok way for distributing the magazine, however nothing beats opening up the mail box, and having a new Nintendo Power sitting in there.

Quite recently, the official Shonen Jump magazine went digital. (And I was subscribed to it. )
And you are right, digital doesn't have the same affect the physical version does.

Apparently it isn't a rumor. (According to GoNintendo. They can obviously be wrong though.)
