so Crytek the makers of Crysis said they are working with nintendo. Maybe I'm reaching but i think there is more to this that meets the eye. i suspect one of two things....

1. nintendo is working on a deal with Crytek to use it's Cryengine3 for their more advance graphical first party games( Zelda, Metroid, F-Zero, and Starfox). how do you guys think those franchises would run on the engine? I think more than any metroid would benefit from using cryengine 3 (and could take the series to the next level). we know the Wii U can support it as the CEO has said a 3rd party game is running cryengine 3 on Wii U and it's beautiful on it. I'm not sure what the Zelda HD experience was running on but it was beautiful. could this actually happen?

2. nintendo isnt strangers to asking 3rd parties for help. so maybe Crytek is just helping nintendo develop a next-gen engine to use for their games on Wii U. obviously they need an in house engine to run Wii U games on for the next 5-7 years. i couldnt imagine a game like mario kart running on a console as powerful as Wii U. its going to be interesting to see what visual styles nintendo decide to use for some of their franchises now working with this much power. i guess new super mario brothers U should be a good judging game on what we can expect from the "colorful" 1st party franchises... but what about the more graphical games? it usually takes a company years to develop a engine and fine tune it(look at uncharted 1-3 on ps3) to take advantage of the system capabilities. I think this is far more possible than 1st party nintendo games running on cryengine 3.... but i can dream.

all in all i think the comments "we are working with nintendo" means more than just a third party developer is using our engine on a game coming to Wii U. So guys what would you like to see come of this nintendo and crytek working relationship?

I think you read 5 words as 1000. I think they are just developing a game for wii u. However I would love Zelda on cry engine 3... One can dream... One can dream...

It's not out of the realm of possibility that Nintendo is going after CryTek for their engine to use for one of their games.
Although if anything, I think they are just trying to convince them to develop a third-party game for the Wii U.

But, what I'm sure most of us want is a first-party Nintendo game running on the CryEngine. Personally, I want to see it on Metriod.

I second that. Metroid on the cryengine 3 would be godlike. More than likely though, it'll probably be either a shooter with some amazing looking maps or a hack n slash like DMC, utilizing that engine. I'd love to see some 1st party love that we didn't get on the Wii like F-Zero utilize the cryengine. F-Zero GX was quite the pretty game for a Gamecube title.

probably my most looked forward to game for Wii U... because of graphics and artstyle. its so colorful i just see them bumping it up to 1080p and cleaing up character models making everything smooth. i just cant see mario kart with GT5 type of detail.... will never happen.

i think its definitely possible, to be honest i think its even probable. what else could it be, didnt metroid on wii use UE3? so it makes sense to be honest (but not for mario kart that would be a waste of money)

no from what i gathered that was a bad rumor started by someone saying metroid used unreal 2.9 or something like that. but seriously metroid on cryengine 3 would (with retro/nintendo) artsyle would obliterate a lot of games that will be released next gen.

I'm drooling thinking of the possibilities. I don't know the extent of Nintendo and Cryteks relationship.... but it will mean good things No matter what comes out of it...maybe a new IP all together? Hmmmm...

if it was just a rumour then forget what i said. if nintendo has never bought a third party engine before then i highly doubt they will start now. they build engines specifically made for their hardware. its not luck that nintendo games always make best use of their hardware graphically, its cos their engines are specialised plus it saves money to build ur own engine if you have the expertise and nintendo definitely does. the Zelda demo from E3 2011 was absolute gorgeousness, whatever they made that with is probably better suited to wii u than any third party engine

Well like I said in the OP crytek could be helping them build their new engine for Wii U. I wouldn't doubt that one bit. Crytek has more experience with building engines and HD graphics and nintendo could use them. Just like rumor of EA helping nintendo build their online Infrastructure. Cryteck could be helping nintendo build the base of the Wii U engine.

If they license Nintendo the Cryengine I would cry with joy. I think it is probably that they are just making it available for use on the Wii U. The rumor was that Sniper Ghost Warrior 2 was going to be the game that would be on the Wii U. I think that it is all it will end up being.

Even if thats all it is...if the CryEngine really works well and the game shows it..it can mean good things for future projects involving the CryEngine

not really, Nintendo has more experience building engines than crytek, the fact that the new engines will be for HD games doesn't really make a difference, its less of a jump from 2D to 3D and nintendo handled that on their own just fine. HD simply means higher resolution it really isn't much different. the fact remains that its cheaper for nintendo to build its own engines so i think they will do that, they don't need crytek's help

I like Cryengine more than Unreal. It has better features if you want a graphically intense game. It works good with colorful art styles compared to UE3.

E3 2013: Teaser for the next F-Zero. Trailer using CryEngine. You'd see C. Falcon destroying Samurai Goroh's car and then jumping out of the Blue Falcon. He'd Falcon Punch the screen and then scream "YEEEAAAEAEAEEEAAAAH" with fire bursting out of his skin. Everything in HD. Awesome.

Teaser for Wario Vs Waluigi: The first thing you'd see is Wario farting. The whole trailer would be about watching the photorealistic and full of particles deadly gas. Awesome. It'd be the first time we'd be amazed watching a fart...

CryEngine=so much win.
