It was an idea, meant to show hard core, and Nintendo.

I know. I was just giving you a hard time. :)

I basically predicted this would happen, it was just one of those things where because it was unfamiliar it was labelled bad but really from how it rolls off your tongue to what the name represents i always thought it was a good name, after all i bet some people made fun of the Xbox when it first came out, heck even my mother did saying she would give me a box with an X on it if i wanted an Xbox.

Wii U, they named it that because it is a Family thing, as in We (Wii), and U, as the main, you (U)..
3DS. Is a 3D DS. So 3D Dual Screen. 3DS
$150 down, $200 to go. #DeluxeWiiU

I love the name, it's catchy. Only problem I have is the fact people call it "Just a new wii" cause it has "Wii" in the name.

The pronounced sound of the number 2 in Japanese is "knee". Thus the Wii U would have been Wiiknee if it was named Wii 2

I will not be using the wii-mote at all. not once. Game-pad and pro controller

I'm sure there will be games which require the wiimote, Nintendoland for example.

Your post seems quite aggressive, what's wrong with Wii remotes?

I use to have these sorts of debates all the time with my friends. I personally like the name and see nothing wrong. It's not exactly a Wii 2, seeing as it only supports it's previous gen and brings in new ideas. But it keeps the familiarity of the name with the casual crowd regardless because of it's title. The Wii was a success, so why change the name? And further more, "U" emphasizes the gamers who don't want all that family fun. It's a Wii meant for U as a gamer. Wii U. Boom.

"Wii took all your money.. now it's time to pay U back" <-- Tsu, LOL!
